new 527 group: football fans for truth; or do sports matter in presidential politics?
More deep thought by DY156:
I've tried to "tackle" some sort of tangential issues on the politics board such as whether extramarital affairs should be illegal, and whether islamic terrorists are more cruel than other terrorists. This is in an attempt to create good political discussions that don't devolve to Bush sucks/Kerry sucks more/Bush snorts/Kerry flip flops/Cheney's a greedy oilman/Kerry faked his medals, etc... Here's my next attempt: everyone has seen the goofy picture of Kerry flinching while trying to catch a football: Well, there is a funny website about how he's not fit to become the first fan-in-chief: www.footballfansfortruth.us I thought it was just for laughs, but the guys that started this have a actually established a 527 group and are seeking donations. I thought it was all just kinda funny. Bush certainly has flubbed up words worse than "Lambert" field where the Packers play, and many people have seen the awkward picture of Bush trying to tackle/punch some guy in a rugby game at Yale. However, this pagemakes me wonder: http://www.footballfansfortruth.us/marathon.php It sounds like he might have been caught embellishing. You can say alot of things about Bush, but he really did run a marathon, and there's nothing vague about it. http://www.runnersworld.com/footnote...questions.html See also this page, where his time is on Houston marathon t-shirts: https://www.timestobeat.com/sess/utn...iew.shopscript As an humble Bush supporter, I know all too well that funny faces and mannerisms can be devastating. The fact that he flubs up a name or two, can't catch and throws like a girl really mean nothing to me. The marathon thing does, though. just out of fairness, here's ESPN's articles on the sports life of both candidates: Bush (non-biased disclaimer: it talks about whether he really created a stickball league at Andover, and how he wasn't a very good baseball player at Yale, and how Arlington taxpayers helped fund the new Texas Rangers ballpark) And: Kerry (pretty lame politician answers to softball interview questions, including that he "I ran a marathon back in '80, something like that. Did the Boston Marathon." ) I heard somewhere that sports don't build character; they reveal it. What do you think? One more time, just because the pictures are pretty funny. more football pictures |

I love the football fans for truth. I think it's hilarious that they bought a billboard near Lambeau field to mock Kerry's quote where he called it "Lambert Field." That's just a good sense of humor.
