The Kerry Campaign needs to lighten up (no pun was intended but it worked out well)
Ok maybe or maybe not you have heard about the Kerry 'spray on' tan for the debates.
Here is the picture that has been around a while. Apparently the Kerry campaign says he got the tan in a one hour football game, which is in itself rather laughable, but reports were he was orange to start the game. I don't have any links for it as its a 'non issue' Here is Kerry in his orange glow. Ok its pretty bad in that photo, I'm sure it will be touched up for the debate to make him nice and John Kennedy like. Its silly but its not an issue I know. Now yesterday Mrs. Cheney made a little joke about it. Quote:
But now for the Kerry campaign 'response' to Mrs. Cheney's biting attack...... Quote:
I'm just wondering who is running this campaign? Its the kind of response I'd expect from a tfper's first trip to the politics board, not what a polished and professional campaign would come out with. Something like this required no response, or at worst something very light hearted. It almost makes me wonder if the now 2 year rumor about the Clintons sinking ANY democrat candidate in order to give Hilary a shot in 2008 might well be true, (among other reasons). Does anyone think Kerry so far has run a good campaign?

I just saw something very amusing in that picture which has nothing to do with his tan. A hero cookie to the first one who points it out

Ustow needs to lighten up
What do you care? You're all for dictator Bush. Why is Kerry's tan so important to you all of a sudden? So what if he wants to look "Kennedy" like. Bush is doing the same thing trying to look like Reagan. They're both pulling the same shit for the debates. So what? It looks like you spent a lot of time writing that and I have to honestly think, don't you have anything better to do?
In other words, this issue is soo damn stupid. Get off it. This is an example of the WRONG way to respond to this post. Notice how the poster turns it into a personal attack? 24 hour bannination. -lebell Last edited by Lebell; 09-30-2004 at 06:25 AM.. |

This is also a 'non issue' of course. No rational individual would dream of getting down on a candidate over something superficial and trivial.
Early April 04 Mid April 04 Nov 8, 02 January 28, 03 Just, you know, a haha. Nothing big, a non issue. The man wouldn't be dying his hair now would he? Not after accusing Al Gore of doing the same thing, "The man dyes his hair." Bush sayd "What does that tell you about him?" Then he says "He doesn't know who he is." Does Bush know, and like himself? But you know, it's a non issue. Btw, this is a non issue, but for his own safety he should stop. Recent research suggests long term dark hair coloring can cause non-hodgkings lymphoma. That's not good. Ooh, and what a TOOL Kerry is for wearing the Yellow Lance Armstrong Bracelet How dare that bastard contribute to cancer research and then be proud about it! I'm gonna take mine off right now. I'll tell all my coworkers who have one to do the same. Last edited by Superbelt; 09-30-2004 at 04:51 AM.. |

Non issue, but hair dying isn't a marathon process either.
But you know, this is a non issue. Rank hypocracy is a non issue as well, but he DID criticise Al Gore for this exact same thing, or did you miss that part of the hair dye non issue that I posted? ____________________ For everyone here who is NOT Ustwo, please realize that I really don't give a shit about this. That it does not register on my radar. I could care less who gets botox, self tanner, hair dye, teeth caps, braces, penis augmentation, breast reduction, liposuction, sexual reorientation surgery ect. I have only done this to expose one of the most retarded subjects brought up on this board and highlight the direction this board has taken recently. Again my post was done only in a sarcastic way. Holy Shit!!! Kerry used SPRAY ON TAN? Dear God NOOOOO!! What an asshole! And that Lance Armstrong bracelet? Well, that just seals it. I guess now I'll be voting for Bush!
I mean, we can't have a guy in office who wears a yellow bracelet for cancer research, or who fakes a tan now can we? This is the most idiotic non-issue ever. Get over it. Who cares?

If you can't make your charges of "flip-flopper" stick then go for an even more baseless charge. What do you think that you are accomplishing here? This probably pushes the boundaries of what's acceptable for the political forum. May the wrath of the mods be visited upon you.

it's really no big deal... but i don't see why he doesn't come out and say he spray-tanned. i have very grave doubts a man who has been snow-skiing and windsurfing during the summer would have that much tan difference after throwing the football around in the late september sun. just admitting it would give people less incentive to speculate on it. apparently his PR guy subscribes to the CBSnews believe-us-cause-we're-real-important school of thought.
lol, as trivial as it is to talk about this... at least it's something other than Iraq.

Conversely I could say:
it's really no big deal... but i don't see why he doesn't come out and say he hair dyed. He may not have come out and said he is spray-tanned for several reasons. Assuming he actually did use tan in a bottle a) Noone asked. simple eh? Assuming it's a natural tan a) Noone asked. b) Maybe he used strong sunscreen when skiing and windsurfing. Those are two conditions where you can get a severe sunburn. Snow albedo especially can be damaging to your skin. Then, he goes to play football in early Fall and assumes he won't need sunscreen. He gets a deep tan. It can happen. c) Color correction of the picture was off. Wanna post a second picture where he looks that dark? Even if Kerry did use self tan, so what. My wife used a tanning bed in the runup to our wedding. I am of Italian descent and especially dark. She is of German d and didn't want to look too white next to me for our wedding pictures. She also wanted more contrast with her skin and the dress. If it is self tan, then, my wife and Kerry have in common that they just both want to look their best for the cameras. I bet both candidates come to the 'debates' dressed as well as they can with fresh haircuts and professionally fixed hair! And even some makeup to keep their complexion for the cameras. That's the way politics are in a society of television and cameras. Last edited by Superbelt; 09-30-2004 at 06:01 AM.. |

While I find this thread amusing, for the good of the board I am closing it. I've issued one 24 hour ban and honestly, Cthullu and Superbelt are riding the edge of a couple more. Those two individuals are on notice that more sniping at Ustwo as exibited in this thread WILL get a ban. As to the inevitable charge of mod partisanship, he has been warned in the past and the worst he could be accused of in this thread is creating a silly thread. I will also point out that there have been several perfectly acceptable responses (see irateplatypus especially).
