Patriot Act: Another one bites the dust
Another provision is struck down thankfully! I'll be happy when this thing expires. I think there is a major problem with how the patriot act was formed. A bunch of laws (some of which are unconstituional) were lumped into one act and passed on fear. I think that laws of this nature should not be lumped into one act but instead passed individually. This would help with unconstitutional issues.

It's good to hear some positive news for once. Many aspects of the Patriot Act seem like nothing more then a repeal of the protections given to citizens against law enforcement in the last half century. The fact that many of these protections were put into place only after agencies like the FBI were caught egregiously violating the rights of citizens only makes their roll-back all the more galling. I don't dislike law enforcement but I certainly don't grant them unconditional trust, particularly given their spotty history of respecting the rights of the individual.

This is an example of the Judicial process working effectively to refine a useful and necessary Act.
I've posted my thoughts about the Act itself here: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...ht=patriot+act
