This is something i found in the Spanish press today. El Periodico from Spain. Sunday 26th. Translation is mine.

Threats to vote for Karzai.
The chiefs of the Terezay tribe in south east Afghanistan are threatening citizens who vote against the president, Hamid Karzai, of burning their houses. The election is 9th of Oct. The tribe, ethnic Pastún, same as Karzai, number more than 150,000.

O.K. Karzai is an ex Unocal/Halliburton stooge. Pretty much all funds for Iraq pass through his hands. The Terezays are the direct recipients of pretty much all US "reconstruction" money. Anyone else has to grow opium.(which, by the way, is thriving like never before)
Spreading demockracy through fear and intimidation. But apparently the natural gas pipeline is well under way.

Point besides you don't like the US policy?

I don't really see much of a point in the original post. You could probably get your thoughts across better with a "NO BLOOD FOR OIL!@!!" bumper-sticker. Of course we will put in place people that our administration is comfortable with or has diplomatic ties with. We're not going to dig through the unwashed massses for someone to lead their people -- just like we don't do that here. It's politics.

One simple post and it gets followed by two excuses and defelections.

If it was not clear to either of you - the first post is quite obviously a report about the apparent non-existent democratic process taking place in Afghanistan.

If that's pointless or "just politics" to you - I fully expect both of you to never attempt to hold the events in Afghanistan up as any type of symbol of how the U.S. is assisting the world towards democracy.

thanx Opie. Yeah, thats pretty much it. Afghanistan is free. pretty soon all those damn insurgents will fall in line in Iraq also. Hold a free election tomorrow and Mr. saddam WMD would recieve 90% of the votes. Fuck, i cannot believe that there are articulate intelligent human beings that swallow this swill. Yeah. Making the world safer for us all.

For once I honstly admire someone who holds opposite belief as me. See, nobody have a problem with America invading some other country for resource or power. Just do not do it in the good name of freedom, democracy, equality and justice. :thumbsup:
