I am convinced that Gore won Florida and so the country and so is the President. With that as an unproven start, given that a moderately reasonable person (I used to be pre-Bush) could believe that Bush is an usurper, I think we can call it proven that he lacks a popular mandate.

Stipulate that and that many of his pet programs, from his economic plans based entirely on tax breaks to his faith based initiatives to his pushing of domestic exploration to the exclusion of energy conservation, are extreme conservatism, and you can understand how someone who leans moderately liberal would tilt all the way over at the mere sight of the man.

Hate? I don't think so, but there is no figure in American politics past or present who I hold in greater contempt. Joe Mccarthy would be the next closest. Now some members of his administration - Rove, Ashcroft, Wolfowitz, are a lot more clear cut.

Wow, this thread is still open and will allow me to get my two cents in.

Reasons I dislike W Bush:

1. Massive deficits (mortgaging the future at an absolutely insane rate that will have serious economic repercussions for generations to come.)

2. He is a xenophobe and he is condescending towards the other nations of the planet (other than Britain).

3. He let Osama drop off the radar screen and slip away.

4. Iraq and all the lies that went with it.

5. Tax cuts that he couldn't afford leading to No. 1 listed above.

6. Corrupt deals with large corporations - Haliburton for example.

7. The whole Gay marriage thing

8. The right to choose.

9. The religious right

10. Stem cell research (see 9 above)

11. He is a fortunate son.

12. Dick Cheney

13. His blind support for Israel. He seems to foget that there are two sides to the story.

Any other reasons would purely be personal and I will not list those as a common courtesy.

Just a side note, Ann Coulter has said that there was nothing wrong with McCarthy and that inot only did he do the right thing but that this was when the Dems started showing contempt for the government.

I bring this up only to say this: As long as this president supports and allows his supporters to believe things like this it only adds to the animosity of his administration.

One also has to question why would he allow himself to be associated with this lady and these patterns of thought from other talking heads.

Remember, Bush has proudly stated that he does not read any newspapers or watch any news programs. All of his information comes from his insiders, who keep him "informed."

Taking this a step further, I wouldn't doubt that he has no idea what these people are saying. And if he did, I doubt he would condemn their statements since these are the people who seem to be his base of support.

I very much dislike the shame he has brought to the name of America. I also find his lack of language skills to be distasteful, as I would hope for more intellectual prowess from my president. These are the "proven" points that I would list.

As an aside, I am greatly disturbed by the percieved dishonesty he and his entire administration project. I , as many others here, do not hate Bush, but I have no respect for him either. I want to be able to trust my government again, and I want my country to be respected by the rest of the world.

I'd like to throw in a few more things. I strongly diapprove of the way he has alienated our allies. I feel that his appointment of such a radical individual as Ashcroft to such a high office reflects on his true nature. His choice of other associates like Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rove, and others that I may be forgetting is a similar reflection of his nature. I disapprove of the way he has shifted the "war on terror" to a new, easier target when the old target started fading out of sight and farther from success. I feel that by prematurely shifting the focus to Iraq, he has abandoned the people of Afghanistan and the soldiers there, as they did not make the decision for war, and we now owe it to them to finish what we started and make them safe again.

Why do I dislike GW? A number of reasons, and the more I learn about him and his policies, the more it grows. Here's a primer - "Sex, Lies, and Politics" by Larry Flynt. This is just one documented book about GW and the GOP.
The economy - GW took a budget surplus and turned it into a major deficit.
Jobs - GW is facing a negative job gain.
WMD/War in Iraq - It wasn't about WMD, it was about Saddam. GW never had an after-action plan. The "Mission Accomplished" never was, unless it was to help Cheney and Haliburton.
Active Military Service - they can't find any for GW, and he's not volunteering his daughters to do what he expects from our troops.
Medicare - how do we have a free economy when there is no competition for drug charges (among others)?
Education/"No Child Left Behind" - I live in FL where his brother tries to stump the same issue. What do we have? A school system that trains students for a basic test, and then still can't pass. Teachers are funding their own classrooms; students are losing basics such as art and humanities.

Bush doesn't care about the everyday man, but the wealthy ones who have and will support him.
