This vexes me. I am terribly vexed.

No, Full Faith and Credit does that, Journeyman.

Equal Protection would the the one we can use now to sue every state to allow the same rights to gays as we have for Straights.
Equal Protection provides for "Equal application of the law"

From Andrew Sullivan's blog, a conservative I respect and read daily:

Quote:
All I can say is that, from one perspective, that of the gay community, president Bush has done what no Democratic candidate has been able to do for a couple of decades: he has united the entire community around the Democrats. The effort by many of us to persuade gay voters to consider the Republicans, to give Bush a chance, has been rendered almost comically moot this fall. Bush won a quarter of gay votes in 2000. I wonder if he'll even get a tenth of them this year. He deserves fewer.

I agree with that blog. The people that rallied behind that were already going to vote republican. Most likely it ended up as a net loss of voters for him.

This was purely a political move, never really intended to pass but to throw the extreme right a bone. However, I really have to question if the negatives (losing probably the entire gay vote) outweigh the positives.

I agree. Bush is merely jerking off his constituents. Of course he's just solidifying a vote that was already rock hard.

But those right wingers all love to be jerked off by Bush when they're rock hard.

Hmmmm. All sounds a little gay to me....
