Is Cheney still alive?
Obviously, This is meant in farce. But, where is the Vice President during the current crisis. I don't think I have seen or heard more than a couple soundbites from this guy in several months. I realize his health is "in question" but if it is really that bad, he should be replaced in an attempt to get someone in there who can actually do something.
Opinions?

He's out fundraising and bashing Kerry 24/7. That's the vice-president's job, I hate to say it.

in previous administrations, nobody really noticed when the Vice President wasn't around. The first Bush white house, for example...I can't imagine anyone ever saying "Where's Dan Quayle in this current crisis?"...haha.
I agree, where's Cheney, where is the puppetmaster... |

On the right are the headlines concerning Cheney. Seems like he has been speaking a lot, fundraising, as Sparhawk pointed out. Of course, that's just his speech list, I guess, but that's the sort of thing he's doing.

Grumpy has been out preaching to the faithful, making sure the Republican base is still solid and thereby raising a butt-load of cash. He also just passed his physical:
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory...litics/2563981 May 12, 2004, 12:27AM Cheney gets good news from doctor about heart Associated Press WASHINGTON -- Vice President Dick Cheney's office said he received good news Tuesday during his annual heart checkup, with a pacemaker detecting no irregular heartbeat. Cheney has had four heart attacks and a pacemaker was placed in his chest in June 2001. The checkup determined that the pacemaker, called an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, was working fine and never had to be activated. The device is designed to activate automatically if needed to regulate the patient's heartbeat. "The vice president was told by his doctors that all the news was very good," said Cheney spokesman Kevin Kellems. "The doctors informed him that the device neither detected nor treated any arrhythmia." Cheney underwent the routine exam at George Washington University Medical Center. It included a physical exam, an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a stress test. They are noninvasive procedures and the vice president went back to work. He may also be out taking candy from children and kicking puppies, but that is just rumor. But seriously, like him or not, he has been one of the most influential and visible (in an important and meaningful way) V.Ps in U.S. history.

i've seen cheney on the news as often as ever. he has mainly been on the offensive end of the campaign. classic strategy, let the vice president do the dirty work and have the president remain above the fray.

From what I've read about him, Cheney isn't someone who enjoys the limelight. He prefers to work behind the curtain...er, behind the scenes. In secret.
As an aside, am I the only one who thinks he physically resembles Peter Sellers' president in Dr. Strangelove and in behavior resembles Dr. Strangelove himself?

Cheney's motorcade just went by my house the other day when he was in NH. They blocked off all the streets with cop cars, and there were helicopters flying around and everything.....freaky.
