I have no problem at all with homosexuals in the military as long as they adhere to DOD policy. If no one knows about their sexual orientation then it cannot be much of a problem, can it?
You are under the misunderstanding that the military is an egalitarian organization. It is not. It is a totalitarian, hierarchical organization dedicated to killing the enemy as efficiently as possible so that the rest of the country can be egalitarian and wonderful. The strawman was yours, dear sir. I was being fececious in my statement. If you truely think that gender relations are even vaguely related to race relations then we may indeed have trouble seeing eye to eye on this issue.

You're a funny guy. You claim to have no problem with homosexuals in the military, so long as they adhere to DOD policy. I assume that includes not having sex with other male military personnel. What is the problem, then, with women in the unit, so long as they do not have sex with their compatriots?
I don't give a good god damn how the army is run, and I am under absolutely no misunderstanding as to its fairness or purpose. If you truly don't see any parity between race and gender relations then I'm truly nonplussed. You've a remarkable view of the world.

Your assumtion is wrong. Do a google search on "Don't ask, Don't tell".
The acronym we use is SAM. S statements A acts M marraige As long as none of these are observed, there is no problem. I have yet to see a co-ed unit where sexual tensions were not an issue. And you have yet to answer my question: what does the Army gain by allowing women in combat arms units. Then you said: Quote:

sorry, not to be stereotypical, but yeah, i'd totally say that mixing of genders in a unit is a story for trouble. Namely, most guys i've seen going through basic come out with testosterone levels through the roof, so any form of sexual tension is going to surface quickly.
doesn't have much to do with this discussion, but ignoring the consquences of sexual tension is not a good idea.
