British MP Suspended After Iraqi Documents Found
• Papers Link Anti-War MP to Iraqi Bribes
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/3003825.stm It isn't much of a story in the US media, mainly because they gave British MP George Galloway lots of 'face time' to slam the Bush administration for 'invading' Iraq in the weeks leading up to Gulf War II, but his party voted to boot him from parliament. The London Daily Telegraph uncovered documents from Iraq that say Galloway was getting almost a million dollars a year from Saddam, but isn't what got Galloway the boot. Instead, he was suspended for giving an interview to Abu Dhabi TV in which he "seemingly invited other Arab nations to fight against the British Army". It is good to see that some governments are unwilling to put up with what many see as the act of a traitor during a time of war. It will really be interesting to see what they do if it is proven that he was receiving bribes from Saddam to hinder Britain's war effort. |

Well at least it wasn't the Canadian prime minister inviting other Arab countries to fight Canadian soldiers..err.. cuz they didn't make it to Iraq.

Just a quick clarification:
- He hasn't been kicked out of Parliament. He is still an MP, just not a member of the Labour party - With regard to Saddam links, he hasn't been found guilty of anything yet. Currently there is a lot of anger, claims and counter-claims, but it is as yet unproven. |
