ANOTHER TERROR PLOT <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3635381.stm">FOILED:</a>

Let's see, the King of Jordan said that vehicles containing chemical weapons and poison were from Syria, which was named as a likely repository for Iraq's weapons?

I don't see how that proves anything at all. I guess if they have the WMD's confiscated, they should be able to trace the source. Remember, al Qaeda hated Saddam Hussein and there was no connection between them.

Seeing that the source of that story is Newsmax, that's a pretty huge "if". Seems like they're taking little bits of rumors and stitching them together to form a story that they like.
The investigation is still developing so we'll just have to wait to see what the truth is.

Isn't it obvious. Sadams brother Ollie, in a desperate attempt to protect Iraqi secrets, bundled up all the WMD's in a persian rug and shipped them UPS to syria. Meanwhile the palace dog, while digging for bones in Sadams back yard stumbled upon a mysterious metal rod. The heavily radioactive plutonium made fluffys hair fall out and a palace guard mistook her for a rat, fluffy was shot. In a fit of dispair Sadam decided to attempt to get a few centrifuge tubes in order to clone fluffy, and set his heart at ease.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Osama wrote to the Iraqi embassador pleading for mercy in regards to the guard who shot fluffy, as he was a distant cousin of Bin Laden and his sisters husbands fourth wife requested it. Because of a sad twist of fate(Sadam immediately executed the guard after he shot fluffy) Sadam could not comply with Osamas request, and thus the hatred Osama feels towards Iraq.
Shortly after the untimely demise of the palace pet, The leadership of Syria detected an alien spacecraft over the border with Iraq, and used its intellegence gathering agencies to come to the conclusion that Sadam was actually an alien, who disliked sunlight (thus the spider hole he was found in) and had a plan to block out the sun over Syria with an enormous inflatable Twinky, as this would deprive the Syrians with there source of tanning they decided to break off relations and keep the WMDs for themselves.

I wouldnt put it past Bush to make fake terror threats just to keep us all scared.

I have to say that of all the many conspiracy theories I had heard or read to date, yours is by far the most plausible. Thanks for sharing such an insightful look into what really happened to all those pesky WMD.

That story on fox news is missing the David Kay quote you cited as "proof" that Iraq was somehow linked to this.

I don't doubt that the main story is true. I just think citing this as proof that Iraq had WMD's is completely ridiculous.

Just a point of order,

That Iraq had WMD's is beyond dispute.

The real question is what happened to them.

Fair enough. I meant "proof that Iraq had an active stockpile of chemical and/or biological weapons in the months leading up to the most recent Iraq war."

I believe that some of Iraq's WMD were moved before the US strikes. I'm afraid that they have fallen into radical fundamentalists hands like al-Quida,Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. Saddam must have known that his days were running out and shipped everything to other countries that were desparately wanting them. Like Syria, Lebanon, etc.

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — An al-Qaeda-linked terrorist cell recently dismantled in Jordan was plotting to detonate a chemical bomb capable of killing thousands of people and to attack the U.S. Embassy and prime minister's office with poison gas, officials said Saturday.
Officials close to the investigation told The Associated Press that several terror suspects arrested in Jordan last month have confessed the plots were hatched by Jordanian militant Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi, thought to be a close associate of al-Qaeda boss Osama bin Laden.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the terrorist cell was planning to attack Jordan's secret service — the General Intelligence Department — with a chemical bomb that would have killed as many as 20,000 people and caused large-scale destruction within a half-mile radius.

Jordan's King Abdullah II said this week in a published letter of thanks to his intelligence chief, Gen. Saad Kheir, that the arrests of the terror cell members have "saved thousands of lives."

In his letter, Abdullah said that had the chemical bomb plot not been uncovered, Jordan would have seen "a crime that would have been unprecedented in the country in terms of the size of explosives mounted on the vehicles and the methods of carrying out the attacks or the civilian locations chosen."

On Saturday, the officials told the AP that the terror cell was also apparently planning to carry out simultaneous poison gas attacks against foreign diplomatic missions, including the heavily fortified U.S. Embassy in Amman, vital Jordanian public establishments like the prime minister's office and unspecified civilian targets.

They declined to elaborate, but stressed the plot had been foiled with the arrests late last month and earlier this month of an unspecified number of terrorist suspects.

Jordanian officials say the arrests occurred after suspected militants entered Jordan from neighboring Syria in at least three vehicles filled with explosives, detonators and raw material to be used in bomb-making.

Syrian officials have denied the claims.

Among those arrested last week were two Palestinian militants identified as Suleiman Darweesh and Muwafaq Adwan, thought to be close associates of al-Zarqawi.

Another Palestinian militant, Azmi al-Jayoussi, is thought to be at large.

U.S. officials have offered a $10 million reward for al-Zarqawi's capture, saying he is trying to build a network of foreign militants in neighboring Iraq to work on al-Qaeda's behalf.

Al-Zarqawi is suspected of connection to about a dozen high-profile attacks in Iraq, including the bombing of the U.N. headquarters in August and Shiite religious ceremonies last month. Moroccan authorities believe he may have helped guide the Madrid train bombings. U.S. and Jordanian law enforcement say he funded the Oct. 2002 assassination of a U.S. diplomat in Jordan.

Jordan, a moderate Arab nation with close ties to America and a peace treaty with Israel, has been targeted by al-Qaeda and other terrorists. Twenty-two Islamic extremists were convicted of plotting to attack U.S. and Israeli tourists during the kingdom's millennium celebrations.
