Hooters Flop
OPINION PAGE AMARILLO GLOBE-NEWS
Henry: Temptation is always open for business By DAVE HENRY dhenry@amarillonet.com Opinion There's always a catch, isn't there? Red-blooded males in Arlington who thrilled over the recent arrival of a Hooters restaurant had to figure they had died and gone to heaven. Not only was there a Hooters in town, where one can digest barbecued chicken wings served by scantily clad females, but there was free beer to boot. What more could a guy want? Ah, but this promised land of chicken, chicks and free booze was temporary. Since opening in Arlington March 6, Hooters had been giving away beer and wine during a court battle over a liquor license with "Decency for Arlington," a group that gives more than a hoot about its community and neighborhood. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission awarded a liquor permit to Hooters March 12. And while the wings and women remain, the wine no longer can be had for a song. At least two judges have issued contrasting opinions on Hooters' liquor license, and the state has until today to request an appeal. The good ol' boys in Arlington had to realize that the toll-free tap would be shut off sooner or later. Even a business such as Hooters is based on the - ahem - bottom line, and giving away beer wouldn't seem to be a profitable business venture. Besides, there are bigger fish to fry, or wings to barbecue, as the case may be. Hooters' male patrons may feel they have died and gone to heaven, and that is what concerns groups such as "Decency for Arlington." Let's be honest. Hooters touts its wings, but other body parts not soaked in barbecue sauce really make the restaurant fly, and this bit of naked truth bothers some good folks in Arlington. H(oYo)TERS!!! |

At Hooters. Yeah, right. Do they make the girls in Arlington sunbath in mumu's as well? Hypocrites.

I've been to a couple of hooters and they both sucked. Over priced food that wasn't that good. Pricey beer, and as far as I'm concerned the girls, while not ugly, weren't all that pretty either.
There are plenty of local pubs around here that are superior IMO. not really a political post but...oh well

Jesus fucking christ, you can go to the mall and see 13 yr old girls wearing smaller outfits than the girls at hooters wear. Where the fuck are peoples priorities. How boring are people's lives that they have to take on the evil hooters.
It's really not worth going there anyways. The girls aren't that great and the food sucks. |
