Cubans in car-boat are stopped at sea

MIAMI (AP) — Eleven Cubans trying to sail to Florida in a 1950s Buick converted into a tailfinned boat were intercepted at sea by the Coast Guard and will be sent back to their homeland, exile activists said Wednesday.

I usually have little sympathy for illegal migrants, but I really truly do feel sorry for them. Those two cars must have been worth a fortune in Cuba, and now they'll be stuck in CUba with a huge monetary loss. However, I realize that the US government can't break the rules just for them.

Actually the US could "break" the rules by recending them since they make the rules. Why the US doesn't allow Cuban refugees is beyond me.

Refugee does not equal illegal imigrant. At least in my befuddled world.
