Inexplicable outrage

I'm in a spot right now of very deep introspection and I have so many thoughts running through my head that I'm trying to get out. It's been an odd couple of weeks, but I've had a lot of time to sit down and write out my thoughts, but an event this week has left me speechless.

I go to Kent State University, where this week, the police set up a student here, orchestrated a break-in of his house in order to enter and arrest him for distribution of marijuana. A group of men broke into this kid's house, and stole some of his possessions. He called the police, and once they were at his house, they brought up drugs, and discovered his supply and arrested him.

The worst part of this disgusting event is the fact that it was made LEGAL by the Patriot Act. It now appears that we live in a country where our own Constitution, the BASIS for all the allows us to be free has been burned and now the government is allowed to take ridiculous measures in order to bust someone for selling drugs. Have we really gotten to this point? Are we truly slouching towards that level of a police state? I honestly cannot express the level of outrage that I feel towards this.

I'll avoid the obvious bad joke re: Kent State and just say that I am opposed to most provisions of the Patriot Act.

follower of the child's crusade?

I would say it is very frightening that the police have this power, or the will to abuse it to arrest some college kid who is a small time drug dealer selling a bit of weed.

This shouldnt hold up because he called them. Of course they can say they stumbled upon the stash..I just dont think the Patriot Act was at play here. If they were there on an anonymous terrorism tip..then the Patrioct Act could be seen at fault.

Furthermore..I have been to college,,once or twice....and how are you going to call the cops when you are stashing drugs?
That is where he went wrong..set up or not.
