I swear unless he has a speech written infront of him or Cheny/Rummy by his side he shouldn't be allowed to talk.

He seems to think the common people are going to be eternally grateful for his forty bucks, but watch their body language. The woman retreats to the back of the restaurant and crosses her arms (defensive gesture) and the guy get's on the phone and seems annoyed that Bush is interrupting him (ie, using him as a prop to avoid questions). I guess they just don't like being patronised and lorded over by a moneyed ivy leaguer on a road trip any more than the reporters do.
Interesting from a body language/media management perspective. |

At least he could've said, "I don't wish to answer any questions at this time, I'm hungry and want some privacy." That's a far better way of handling the situation.
Can't blame him for acting like a complete and total weirdo, we all knew this beforehand. |

Hate to disagree with you guys, but i've eaten at this restaurant many times on trips thru Roswell. Very good place to eat. They do a lot of take out and i can't recall anyone laeving a tip with take out. I for one don't. A tip is for service by a waitress/server on eat in service. Do you tip the check out person at the grocery store or the clerk at the convience store. News people always seem to want to try to put a negative spin on a story to get more people to watch. All i saw where a bunch of reporters who crowded into a restaurant just to ask questions and took up space from the real patrons. The lady who took the order wasn't crossing her arms in disgust of the president, more likely she was disgusted at the press.

LOL...I can't believe that guy is the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth. That's some mighty fine economic info he told everyone, I feel better for knowing it.
I agree that the press there were a bunch of pussies. Does he ever answer fielded questions, or do they have to be pre-aproved?

spick, if you notice that Bush has very few "live" press conferences I'd say the questions are pre-approved... I remember he had one on Iraq before we went in, and it was a disaster. Reporters were asking good questions about evidence and rebuilding, and he just kept spewing back the same line about how Saddam was a bad guy, not answering the questions at all. And if you want to talk about national security? how about closing down all the pretzel factories since they seem to pose the biggest threat to his personal safety.

Actually, you are supposed to tip 10% for takeout if it's from a nice place. OutBack and Chilis use their servers for takeout only people on busy nights and they are still paid $2.13 per hour plus tips. Most servers don't mind bc they still do fairly well bc most people tip and you have higher sales
I didn't watch the vid, so i don't know how that pertains.

I think we're all bypassing the real issue here.
Bush is the President. He is a multi-millionaire. He refused to stop badgering the press (however annoying) about spending money on the restaurant. No tip. How rude and inconsiderate is this? And hypocritical? In my opinion; very! |

*sigh* can't they think of something better to pick on bush for? seriously, this is downright idiotic. You don't leave tips for takeout, even if you are the president. it just doesn't make sense.
Though i must admit the one time he did answer a question he came off sounding dumb... "Will this election come down to homeland security?" "I'm here to secure the homeland and that's what I'll do. Ribs?"
