As for the "a vote for a 3rd party is a vote for Bush" idea...the whole point of voting for a 3rd party candidate isnt to get elected at first. Right now voting for a 3rd party is to try and help the party get 5% of the vote thus giving them federal funding in the next election. This will solidify that party as a major political party. Voting for a 3rd party is a vote to try and eliminate the two party system that we've had to deal with for so long. But anyways, that's what i have to say...
That's not why I vote 3rd party -- I think that the two-party system is so well established in the US that no third-party will ever solidify for a lasting time.

I vote 3rd party because I hope that one of the two parties will eventually notice that a lot of people who could be voting for them are throwing away their votes, and if they change some of their positions to match those espoused by the 3rd/4th/5th party they could win them over.

Also about the only credit I give Bush on the economy is for the tax cut, there is only so much the govt can do to help an economy, but there is a shitload it can do to destroy it.
What kind of jobs are booming there? What's a marketable degree nowadays? I would like to know. Some of my friends have masters degrees in database administration, chemical engineering, business management and they can't find jobs. They had jobs before Bush became president then everything went to crapper.

You do know the recession started prior to the 2000 election?

True, what i said was just one of the reasons I vote third party. I also feel that the democrats and the republicans are turning into the same party with the same views on the majority of issues. Even though the two parties are pretty solid I think that if enough people back certain issues that the third parties hold then they many get picked up by a major party.

If nothing else, Saddam himself was a weapon of mass destruction - just from the shear numbers of people he was responsible for killing. Now that he's in custody a lot more will be known and Dean will be........
That doesn't count. Not in the meaning that Bush had for concrete weapons of mass destruction.

There was plenty of evidence that there was wmd's in Iraq. They even admitted to having anthrax at one point. Hell, even Clinton bombed them for being bitches at one point. There's a lot of talk about Bush being a liar, I think people are still mad about that whole DNA evidence on a fat girls dress thing.
There were WMD there, up to at least Operation Desert Fox, which many Republicans call a "Wag the Dog" but actually, by best accounts destroyed upwards of 95% of all the weapons there. But that was many years ago. All the real experts, such as Scott Ritter (Republican, voted Bush in '00) Say that Saddam had little to no weapons left.
We spent 9 months already looking for the weapons with no results. 120k in soldiers and they have found nothing at all.
The best explanation is Saddam kept up the bluster of him still having some WMD to keep Iran afraid. They were still major enemies and if Iran thought that they were defenseless then they would have attacked.

Never mind you don't' get it. You don't lose jobs right when a recession starts, but again never mind. If you think the president is why your friends are unemployed I don't think there is any point in me explaining that correlation does not equal causation.

As topics and exchanges are pursued vigorously, there's always the need to assess the fruitfulness of continuing against stonewalled opposition.

So far, we're doing fine in this thread.
Thanks.

If there was plenty of evidence, where are they? In that gigantic nuclear reactor hidden by a cloaking device? My point is, the Bush administration painted a picture that there were nukes pointed at our throats. That was the level of paranoia they had to generate to get the American public to allow an invasion.

If that was our principle reason for invading Iraq, then it's a poor one, because it hasn't been proven. I'm not a fan of Saddam Hussein, but I'm disappointed in a government that preys on the fears of it's people to meet administration goals.
