Superbelt--don't bother arguing with the global warming denial crowd, they will only hide from fact and obfuscate the issue under a shroud of misdirection. They cannot hide from the fact that the Earth's atmosphere is warming because of human activity. Their only arguements are economic, but those too shrivel when you consider the starkly negative economic impacts of environmental devastation. This is the same crowd that was telling us we would never run out of sperm whales in the sea, redwood forests in the west, and the plains full of buffalo. Sad, pathetic folk indeed.

Hope your children don't get asthma! That might be difficult to blame on trial lawyers and tax rates huh?

The supposed environmental benefits of not joining the Kyoto treaty listed above--thawed farmland, increased access to ice-blocked harbors--are laughable. Maybe if your country contains Siberia and Russia's northern border, meanwhile the U.S. mid-west turns into unarable desert.

Just saw something on the news tonight that the Russian cabinet has approved the Kyoto protocol and it now will be ratified. There was a deal with the EU that Russia would ratify for EU support of Russias bid to join the WTO.

This is a problem I have with government.

The Kyoto Treaty (and both sides can argue till blue in the face but fact is fact) has NOTHING to do with national security. It has to do with how we live our lives (as citizens and consumers) and how we as a country want to see our future. That's it in a nutshell.

So, why not put it on a national ballot, debate and have the people VOTE what we should do. That's what this country is supposed to be about, right?

I don't care if you are for it or against it, I don't give a damn how you personally feel about it. The fact is, it has NADA to do with NATIONAL SECURITY and affects every single one of us, either way. Therefore take the fucking politics out of it, and put it on a ballot and let the people decide.

Rude Comment Removed. -lebell

Government would have to hide less, would be more respected in people's eyes and we could truly claim freedom IF WE, the people, were allowed to vote on issues like this.

Did I say we vote on military actions? NO. True foreign policy, such as armament treaties and financial aid? No, we aren't informed and we don't have the resources to inform.. Those are policies that deserve to be voted on by our leaders, that's what their job is.

But, the Kyoto Treaty and other items that have no bearing on national security, we should allow the people to decide.

Abortion, Capital punishment, etc. let the people decide. If you want a state by state policy fine let the people decide in that state.

We have allowed our political system to be screwed up because WE have chosen to allow OUR VOICES to be silenced and not demanded voting on issues. Instead we politicize it and call one side baby killers and the other heartless assholes who want to kill prisoners for whatever. Let the states decide. Gun control, let the people and the states decide.

The Supreme Court should not be able to overturn these votes because they are not powers expressly written in the Constitution and if the majority have voted for/against then the people have spoken. Put the issues up every 10-20 years for vote.

What are you people afraid of that don't support the people voting? What is the government afraid of? Get the fucking politics out of shit that doesn't nor shouldn't have anything to do with politics.

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
