Official documents regarding "sales" by the US military
This is an interesting find, and I looked through alot of the documents..
http://www.fas.org/asmp/profiles/655-2002/6552002.html The documents include all sales to the nations of the world of weapons, support, ammo, and other items by the United States military to other nations. It also includes "gifts" by the US to other nations (accepted or not) Notice that two frigates were offered to Turkey (Yes.. Frigates, missile frigates to be exact).. (Why dont they ever offer these types of things to me? I'd love a frigate or two) This is for 2002.. Can't wait to see 2003. Have a gander

Nothing new here. We've been selling frigates to Turkey since the 70's. I've landed on a few during NATO exercises.
We also sold them the automobile die casts from the entire GM line 1955-1958. It's better stuff than they had, but not "state of the art". |

Not selling.. Giving.. and Turkey refused
US - "Here Turkey, you look bored, have a missile frigate" Turkey - "Bah, you gave Isreal there of those last year. We want something better!" Luxemburg - "I'll take them" US + Turkey in unison - "shut up Luxemburg!"
