That wasn't the statement BoCo made, and yes, we both know that. Quote:

I'm really lost on your point. At first, I thought you were trying to back up BoCo's point that the NRA and ACLU have never worked together. Now, it seems like you're saying that since the ACLU and NRA don't work together as best friends, that the ACLU is somehow a Bad Group. I'm very confused. Perhaps I should have a drink and re-read this in a bit. |

It doesn't matter if the NRA needs the ACLU, which they don't, but if they want to be the group they claim to be they should defend/support them. Read below. This is from ACLU's website.

Do I not have the right to own a gun? Then why doesn't the ACLU defend it? IMO, the ACLU is not only a bad group, but a terrible one and it couldn't possibly be worse. I'll leave it at that because I can't express my opinion of the ACLU in a manor which is accepted here, and with that I think I'll just go back to not posting in politics... Christ, I fucking hate this board. Last edited by sixate; 11-02-2003 at 09:36 PM.. |

I still don't understand your point. Why should the ACLU defend your right to own a gun when the NRA does such a good job? Sounds like efficient division of labor to me. |

It does not matter that there are other special interest groups that like certain rights more. Those groups never claimed to have the entire Constitution in mind. The ACLU does, but they still play favorites with sections of the Constitution, and allow considerable interpretation beyond what the Supreme Court has determined. |

Maybe help should be given mainly to those who need it, I don't believe there are quite enough resources to give it to all those who deserve it. The NRA does a very good job of defending themselves, so maybe the ACLU might be better off defending those without the kind of rescourses the NRA control.
