Missing billions in Iraq
Interesting story about sloppy accounting in Iraq. Apparently the numbers being reported by different sources contradict each other, with as much as $2.5 billion in Iraqi aid unaccounted for.
The democrats have asked for more accountability for the money being sent to Iraq. It's sad that that message is being lost in partisan rhetoric. http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story...074267,00.html Quote:

Who has benifited? Ask any Iraqi who's pay has quadrupled on average while inflation has remained constant. Ask any Iraqi who is no longer afraid to speak without being killed for it. Ask any Iraqi that has , and probably did, vote for the new local democratic leaders.
Man, you think that NOTHING positive has happened in Iraq since the Americans took out Saddam if you believed Harmless Rabbit. |
Did I miss something? Did they have elections in Iraq? When?

They had local elections, not national ones. They are comming soon, to a former suppressed people near you.

Accountability for this liberation/occupation will help seperate it from the graft & coruption that was one of the defining factors in the not-so-great SouthEast Asian War. Fiscal responsibility is not a bad thing. 2Wolves |
I agree fiscal responciblity is a great thing, now you admit that we are making great strides in Iraq.

Unless of course you feel that having $2,500,000,000.00 tax/debt dollars vanish into the ether as a great stride. Once again that's $2,500,000,000.00 tax/debt dollars. Care to pick up THAT tab? 2Wolves |
