What was the point of those statistics if not to illustrate that it isn't the guns themselves?
Again, ask ten people who saw the film what they think, they will tell you about Charlton HEston and the NRA, Walmart selling ammo and talk about how its an anti gun movie.

Well, if they honestly believed it was an anti-gun movie then I wouldn't bother carrying on a discussion with them about it.

Part of the reason Moore goes to Canada is to show that we have tons of guns too but no where near the same murder rate. He EXPLCITLY says that Canada is a bunch of gun crazy people too, so why is there a difference? Then he talks about what he saw on the news while he was up here and the phenomenon of people not loicking their doors. It then relates to the whole culture of fear and consumption that he discusses with Marilyn Manson. He has a discussion with a father of one of the victims of Columbine and he asks what it is that drives Americans to kill eacho ther so much. Guns themselves are never mentioned as the reason. Did you really miss all this?

I don't think you've seen the movie. If you watch the film and keep your eyes open there's no possible way you'd walk away from it thinking it's an anti-gun movie. If you do, how's that Michael Moore's fault?

I didnt say I missed this, I said ask ten people what they thought. IS that really such a hard concept. I heard that BFC was "some anti gun movie" in Blockbuster by people I wasnt even talknig too. At a party some liberal was talking about how the movie is proof that guns are bad. Yadaa yadaa yadda, I know the movie has no real conclusions based on any real evidence, but most do not.

I've lived in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Where in each state, I either witnessed some one acquiring a fire arm without any difficulty or where I knew of someone who sold fire arms or where I was personally solicited to purchase a firearm from sellers, all of whom were not FFL dealers. In my opinion, if you really want an unregistered gun, you'll find one without any problem. That is, of course, I am assuming that the readable supply and demand of firearms, the likes of which I've witnessed, are concurrent throughout the rest of the states.

'Gun Control' is as much of a lost cause as is the 'War on Drugs'.

I say anyone caught with an illegal gun should be prosecuted to the full extant of the law.

What's an illegal gun nowadays? Who can tell anymore, unless the serial number is removed. There are just too many guns, too many loopholes for purchasing firearms, combined with the constant barrage of N.R.A. lobbyists crying for rights such as the right to easily obtain and sell assault rifles. Unlike the antique rifle, ‘Moses’ raised over his deteriorating, foolish brain. (just so you all know, I'm not some N.R.A. gun nut.) I just can't see the how even the strictest of gun laws could stop any nut, even a potential terrorist, from obtaining their firearm of choice in this country. Just as, I can't see how the war on drugs, no matter how much money is spent fighting it, nor the ages of which it will last, could stop any would-be dealer or addict from obtaining their product of choice.

FEL, i think you are singlehandedly trying to ruin all political discussion on the tfp. Try actually responding to people like human beings. Pretend your every post doesn't have to ooze with holier than thou take-no-prisoners gusto. I don't mean to call just you out, because everyone, including myself, has been known to act that way, but right now it seems that your only purpose on the politics board is to piss off everyone who doesn't agree with you. Even when someone brings up a valid point you respond with some dismissive remark designed to provoke anger, rather than discussion. That kind of behavior isn't conducive to any kind of effective or valuable discussion. Every discussion eventually just boils down to each side finding flowery ways to tell eachother to fuck off. What is the point of that? Why would anyone want to participate in anything like that? Take it easy out here.

So California is not giving out driver licenses to illegal aliens? Many security personal are already talking about how it is very easy to obtain false id from Mexico and come to California, and use its (I guess I cant say liberal without getting flamed) silly new law inorder to purchase guns, fertiliser, or what have you. This is a very real concern. I am sorry if you are offended by my wanting to close loopholes for potential terrorists.

While california immigration law may be an interesting discussion, i fail to see how it has anything to do with democrats shying away from gun control. You only brought it up because you had no other relevant-to-the-topic way of trying to stir up some sort of controversy.
From what i have seen, you don't really care about having productive discussions, about refining your perspective, or developing a healthy exchange of political ideas. Your game is to win at all costs. You seem to have this idea in your head, some sort of amalgam of everything you despise in the perspectives of other people. You never actually argue against any of us, you argue against that image in your head which you have transposed onto whomever suits you. You just wait for somebody to post something that chafes your belief system. Then, as far as you are concerned, that person isl identical to that picture in your head. To your definition of wrongness. It doesn't matter if anyone you are arguing against makes a good point, your reactions are always of the, "well, but, maybe if it wasn't for this other thing whose-relationship-to-you-is-a-function-of-this-fictional-image-i-have-covered-up-your-face-with."

Why did you fill the MM thread wit BS, then close it? What is the purpose? Do you start threads, state your opinions then close them? I would like to respond to some of your new statements, but instead of allowing people to respond to your last 3 posts, you just close it down. I won't bother to create a new thread devoted to your crusade against MM etiher.
