For non-Americans who would you like to see as our next President?

I am asking only non-Americans to respond to this because I would like to hear their opinions on who they would like to see as the next U.S. President, and why. Keep G.W.? Vote for Dean? Whoever, just make it a legitimate person (Mickey Mouse cannot run for office). This is my first thread start, so be nice. Now let the games begin.

TrogDor 10-21-2003 08:42 PM

I think I'd like anyone but bush. I really dont like him, and all he has done is piss off all the arab nations even more since he's been in office. I dont know who I would put in instead of bush though - last election there wasnt alot of choice besides bush and gore.

figgles 10-21-2003 10:03 PM

Michael Moore

HugAPug 10-21-2003 10:17 PM

As a non-American, I'm having a hard time telling the main Democratic candidates apart. Could someone give me a good link comparing them?

Doos 10-21-2003 11:25 PM

Al Gore seemed to be less of a meathead than a lot of politico's. Just isn't charimatic enough.

pocon1 10-22-2003 02:00 AM

Michael moore and Al Gore are not running for office. Please try legitimate political candidates who have actually announced their intentions of running for the 2004 elections. Thank you.

Perhaps you should list the Democratic candidates and maybe provide a link to their websites. While they may get a ton of press coverage here in the states, they may not be covered quite so extensively outside of here.

First off, i would say anyone other than Bush.

But since you asked who.....

I would say Dean

gabshu 10-22-2003 05:11 AM

I think I agree with pretty much everyone here, Bush should not stay in office, he should have never won in the first place. If I could vote I would vote democrat. I know this is sad but I believe that a vote for the independents is a vote for Bush. Right now I like Wesley Clark, but there's still some time to go, so maybe I'll change my mind.

Superbelt 10-22-2003 05:12 AM

This should help you.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/

Currently Howard Dean is leading the pack, closely followed by Wesley Clark and then Edwards, Kerry, Gephardt, and Lieberman is taking up the rear. The rest of the candidates knew they had no chance going in, they just wanted to run.

Superbelt 10-22-2003 05:16 AM

Dean: Issues

damhna 10-22-2003 05:20 AM

I like clark , he might be a contender next time out. But Bush will be , should be and deserves to be reelected

damhna 10-22-2003 05:49 AM

Can we get a poll in here ?

Ustwo 10-22-2003 07:35 AM

You can't blame the Euros etc for not knowing who is running, most Americans dont' know who the dems are either.

Sledge 10-22-2003 08:09 AM

Superbelt, thanks for the link :) That's very helpful.

Love the little paper clipped "out" on Graham's pic. Good graphic.

As a Democratic American who votes in primary elections, I'm having trouble telling them apart as well. :(

seretogis 10-22-2003 11:18 AM

All of you people who are saying "anyone but Bush!" may want to reconsider what that could mean. Bush is not even close to the worst option as far as extreme nonsense goes.

Darkblack 10-22-2003 11:51 AM

lol we could end up with Sharpton!

Arc101 10-22-2003 11:58 AM

Anyone who actually knows that they are other countries besides the USA. Also someone who does not want to start a holy war against the muslim countries. I would also like someone who is not owned by big business, but I can't see that ever happening !

Thats right, we could have a shoddy pundit like Micheal Moore and than watch the nation go to hell in a handbasket.

Much like Bush is doing?

I'll give the pundits some more time before making a choice.

bundy 10-22-2003 08:53 PM

i would like to see an end to the current administration.
imo, Bush has been a reckless and dangerous president.
john howard is no better, but we arenīt discussing him here.

so, iīd like to see Howard Dean be the next president of America.

i agree.
i think with the benefit of hindsight, Gore may well have proved a more thoughtful, and respected leader. he just lacks charisma. mind you, this isnīt to say that Bush has charisma...

Judging by the last election, the one with the best connections in the business world or, to put it succinctly, the one with the most money.

XenuHubbard 10-23-2003 12:52 AM

I'd go with Wesley Clark, even though I really dislike his ramblings about jumping into the water from a bridge at some camp as a kid.

eple 10-23-2003 01:34 AM

Arnie!!! I want that man to rape the whole country!

Pacifier 10-23-2003 02:25 AM

anyone but bush :)

I don't know the small canidates and most of the democrats but this Gen. Clark seems to be not too bad. I hope he has what Clinton was missing: guts.

But what irritates me a lot about the american system is that you have only 2 partys that seem to be important, so a third strong party (Greens?) would be nice I think, just to bring some new ideas.

damiģ 10-23-2003 06:35 AM

Dennis Kucinich would be best for both the good old US of A and the world at large, but he's as unelectable as are Braun and Sharpton (for very obvious reasons in the land of the free & the brave) - Kerry has been a hypocrit for a very long time, Gephardt and Edwards have got no Karma whatsoever, Lieberman is a Republican ... etc. only possible and desirable new US president from this perspective would be Howard Dean, but Americans always grow soft for people who have worn the "uniform" so Clark will get the Democrats' ticket.

Clark's chances of defeating Bush are low, but it's possible - since the 2004 presidential election will probably be about "4 more wars" everything will depend on the dirt Karl Rove can dig up and how many US citizens he'll be able to fool in the best democracy money can buy.
