So is Bush going to run for prez next term?

Anyone know?

BulletBob 04-27-2003 09:09 AM

I believe so. There was some controversy over wether he would be able to be on the ballot in Alabama because the Republican convention was being held later than usual.

rock_bottom 04-27-2003 09:23 AM

Of course. I think you have to go back over 50 years (Truman) to find the last sitting president who could have run but didn't.
Even if Bush didn't want to run, it would make sense to do it for the Republican Party. He's almost a lock to win, especially right now. The Democrats have no good options, but without Bush the Republicans don't really either.

The_Dude 04-27-2003 09:36 AM

it's almost certain.

seems to me like everything he's doing now is to help his campaign for the next term.

GuttersnipeXL 04-27-2003 09:38 AM

I can see the future...George W. Bush will be president for another 4 years...like it or not.

aceventura3 04-27-2003 09:43 AM

No doubt he will run. The Democratic party is in disarray. No loyal Republican is going to challenge him.

cj2112 04-27-2003 09:47 AM

Unfortunately, I think he is. I would prefer to see the Democrats and the Republicans put up candidates that have no possible chance of winning, so that people actually have to educate themselves about who and what they are voting for. I know it's a fantasy...but it's a damn good fantasy.

Not only run but continue proudly

Kadath 04-27-2003 09:05 PM

If the economy keeps sinking the Dems may not need much of an opponent. This feels an awful lot like the last go-round.

Phaenx 04-27-2003 09:25 PM

Hope so, Bush is the man.

oane 04-27-2003 09:46 PM

I feel he's definitely gonna run for the office. He also has a good chance of winning. There is also lot of unfinished business...

boatin 04-27-2003 09:49 PM

i wouldn't mis-underestimate him...

KillerYoda 04-27-2003 09:53 PM

Is Jeb still in Florida?

Yeah, as in "Damn the man!" or "The man is keeping me down."

Well, we brought the whole "being 'the man'" and "holding everyone down" policies up at the last annual white guy meeting and we decided that we are awesome and we want more money. Bye.

Yeah, I noticed that. Hopefully the Supreme Court is going to shut that argument down and uphold U of Michigan's admittance policies.

btw, I am certain Bush will run again. I haven't been able to find any current polls, however, so I don't know the split between support for the war/Bush's handling of the affair and dissatisfaction (if any is widespread) with the economy. As far as qualified Democratic candidates I think Ms. Mosley-Braun is an extremely articulate and intelligent candidate. I saw her rapidly construct a counter-argument to a *seemingly* rude/inappropriate question from a reporter that immediately gained my respect.

Hopefully so.

And hopefully he will lose. (just really lose this time, not just get less votes but somehow squeak in.)

Remember, it's the economy stupid.

And the economy is getting worse, with more people out of work, more people underemployed, and record deficits.

Ah, but he did beat up pathetic iraq. (Then again, didn't his father campaign on "we kicked some iraqi butt")

Daval 04-28-2003 05:19 AM

I have no doubt he will run, and unfortunately he will probably win. I too don't see a viable democratic opponant.
