Missouri's BADASS gun laws

So I think sometime this week (by friday) we're switching over to a concealed handgun system here in Missouri, this means

You can carry a concealed handgun if you are:
-21 Years old
-Registered and background check done ($100)

You can have it concealed in your vehicle even if you havent had it registered.

So I'm thinking, I'm gonna go buy a subcompact Glock when I turn 21 and start carrying that thing around with "the safety off and a round in the chamber"

All kidding aside, my feeling is that this is gonna cause mad problems. People getting shot for not alerting an officer, gun accidents and other bad stuff going down.

Then again:

Sure, guns may not kill people, and people might, but this is just putting more guns into the hands of more people... I don't see the benefit of this at all.

While I am not prepared to duke it out in the pro-gun vs. anti-gun discussion, its interesting how the pro-gun people believe that "A well-armed populace is the best defense against tyranny".

Does anybody actually think a small town militia will be any match against trained federal troops? The most usage this law is going to see will be by people who prefer to shoot their guns sideways.

Kentucky has had this for a few years, my dad and grandpa have theirs but rarely carry. I dont think I've ever heard of a problem from a person with a concealed carry. It may raise the potential for more problems, but I dont think gun crime will increase.

Oh, just another factoid: 60,000 people are expected to sign up on the first day.

Criminals aren't going to register for concealed carry permits anyway (and if they tried they'd be denied) and if they just let anyone who wants to get a permit have one, I guess I'm not sure how much they accomplish.

If I recall correctly, Glocks don't have a frame safety, but a trigger safety.

Anyway, CCW laws haven'tn't caused any noticible problems in the states that have enacted such laws.

I like and own several firearms, but I'm sure glad I live in a part of the world where people don't feel they need to carry a gun.

I know that we offer concealed permits here in texas, but I dont know much more than that.

I dont think that concealed weapon licence holders actually are the ones that are commiting the crimes.

No training at all is required? No information is given to you of your responsibility to not use a handgun in self defense unless necessary?

Woops, forgot. Yeah I think a course is required, but its the same one as everyone gets here when theyre 13 to get a hunting permit anyway. So it doesnt really count.

I've been to Philly Kadath its a craphole

Watched a guy smash out a car window in front of a hotel and walk away. I was there for a convention, the last time that convention was in Philly they had a bunch of muggings of attendees. I live in Chicago, and when I was in Philly I really WANTED a gun.

Of course I got frisked every night club I went into so it might not have helped

I'd still rather a small sword...not only is effective but it would scare the **** out of a mugger.

You better know how to use that sword... if they wrest it away from you, you're in trouble. Also make them more likely to attack you.

Many states have enacted concealed carry licenses in recent years with no adverse effects. I don't think Missouri residents have anything to fear from this legislation (unless you are a mugger, stalker, or rapist).

As others have said, criminals don't sign up for concealed carry permits, and fears of gun control advocates that people that carry guns will immediately whip it out and start blasting any time some one cuts them off in traffic have not materialized.

And I would be a whole lot more scared having a gun drawn on me than a sword personally

The actually fact is that I live in suburb of the city about 30-45 minutes out. Guns aren't so crucial here in my neighborhood, but thanks for the frank appraisal of the City of Brotherly Love.
