CBS/NY times poll
A New York Times/CBS News poll asked likely Democrat primary voters, "Who would you like to see the Democratic party nominate as its presidential candidate in 2004 ... ?"
For half of the sample, the candidates' titles were used. For the other half, they were not. Without Titles With Titles Clark 14% General Clark 10% Gephardt 5% Cong. Gephardt 15% Dean 9% Doctor Dean 9% Lieberman 5% Sen. Lieberman 13% Moseley-Braun 7% Sen. Moseley-Braun 1% Kerry 4% Sen. Kerry 11% Sharpton 3% Rev. Sharpton 4% Edwards 1% Sen. Edwards 3% Graham 3% Sen. Graham 3% Kucinich 1% Cong. Kucinich 1% Other (vol.) 27% Other (vol.) 10% DK/NA 21% DK/NA 20% New York Times/CBS News Poll, 353 Democratic Primary Voters Nationwide Conducted 9/28/03 - 10/1/03 Margin Of Error +/- 5% My comment? I think its interesting that Other and NA got the highest ratings in both polls. |
When you post a poll or anything from another source always check to see how it looks after you post.
The formatting is different for the board then the news sites. |
Can you not use yellow? It doesn't show up on Sandstorm TFP theme. I have to cut and paste it into a different window to read it.

Just highlight it.
What's interesting is how Clarks rating went down when they give him his title General. |

yeah, people haven't made up their minds yet. Nothing interesting there.
And 'm not sure if going down from 14 to 10 is statistically significant. In fact, the whole thing seems pointless. |

Sorry about using gold but in other formats red doesn't show. It's hard to find a color that works in all formats. |
Thanks.

Off topic but I don't have any comment on the original material, nor do I see what significance it's supposed to have. Not everyone, myself included, is paying more than cursory attention to the Democratic primaries. My focus is currently on the recall election that will be happening in my state in 2 days. It's not surprising that using a title affects people's opinions. If people have a vague notion of who is running, then the titles help elucidate this to some degree. No surprises there. Is the poster of this article trying to make some point? |
