Rationalise this, liberals.

quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kuwait foils smuggling of chemicals, bio warheads from Iraq Associated Press Kuwait City, October 2 Kuwaiti security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle $60 million worth of chemical weapons and biological warheads from Iraq to an unnamed European country, a Kuwaiti newspaper said on Wednesday. The pro-Government Al-Siyassah, quoting an unnamed security source, said the suspects had been watched by security since they arrived in Kuwait and were arrested "in due time." It did not say when or how the smugglers entered Kuwait or when they were arrested. The paper said the smugglers might have had accomplices inside Kuwait. It said Interior Minister Sheik Nawwaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah would hand over the smuggled weapons to an FBI agent at a news conference, but did not say when. Government officials could not be immediately reached for comment. Iraqi Interior Minister Nouri Al-Badran met on Tuesday with Sheik Nawwaf and discussed cooperation between the two countries in security matters. His visit is the first by an Iraqi interior minister to Kuwait since 1990. |
Hmmm. Maybe (maybe) they weren't lying. I don't believe it, and it'll be a long time before the tinfoil hat comes off. If ever.
However, I did always know WMDs would be found in Iraq, but I didn't think a) it'd take us this long to plant and "discover" them, and b) I didn't think it would be this involved. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen anything from this administration that would suggest that there is a depth to which they will not sink. Further, were they there before the war? It isn't obvious. |
Where is this story in regards to the rest of the media?
|
If this story is true, (and I will be skeptical because of the ten dozen false alarms), how do we know that it was there before we conquered Iraq?
Iraq has become a breeding ground, and because of it, a black market for terrorists. Iraq, because we completely disbanded the Iraqi army has an almost completely unguarded, and unwatched border. It could have come in, traded hands with some fanatics, and they go and try to move it out again to sell to someone else or take back to their base camps in some other country. |
I have doubts too about the veracity of this, but say its true for sake of argument.
|
I don't know about that, I'm going to wait for confirmation before poking the liberals here with my stick.
If true, it'll confirm what we already knew but the left in this country still won't leave Bush alone. Most anyhow, O'Reillys been talking about this for the past few days but I've always agreed that this country has shifted from rational debate of political issues to hate mongering in the past few decades. You've got a few viewpoints and anyone of the other persuasion is an obvious moron who should die. It's not very productive and I'd like to see a little more respect for each other across all party lines. |
This is supposedly an AP wire article; according to Google's news service, it was posted 8 hours ago. (link) Why then has this article not made it anywhere else? I checked on Associated Press's website for some evidence that this is a legitimate article, and could find nothing.
I know this doesn't prove it's not true, but I'm going to remain skeptical until this is substantiated. Right now the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of it being illegitimate. I'm sure someone in Fox News, at the very least, would've ben tipped off if WMD were found 8 hours ago. :) If someone can offer substantiation, I will take it more seriously. |
Well, it's early...we'll probably see something on the morning news.
The link is at the top of the Drudge Report, and many reporters now check that since the Lewinsky Scandal This should be interesting, if true |
Given that this story is coming from Food Eater Lad, I'm just assuming it's a total lie like his last post until someone else proves differently.

I doubt that it is an outright lie, since it is linked by Drudge, but the details of the story are as of yet unknown so it could turn out to be a prank or distortion. |

That is just my alternative hypothesis for what happened if it is true. I have nothing to concretely support it and I admit it is just me making shit up. The evidence in its favor though:
-We disbanded the Iraqi army and have left the vast majority of the nation unpatrolled and borders unprotected. -Saddam didn't use the weapons when he was nearing defeat, doubt he ever had them. -They haven't been used on our occupying troops by any saddam loyal factions, this is the perfect place to do it. -We know terrorist groups are being drawn to the country right now, and I think it plausible that some trading would go on between them. At this point I believe it would have as much validity as anything else. Even though I'll bet dollars to donuts that this just turns out to be another false alarm. |

I'd like to point out that it has been 24 hours since this article appeared in Hindustan, without making it anywhere reputable (sorry, Mike Drudge).

So, are you going to do the honorable thing and delete this post? |
What are you talking about?
|
He doesn't need to delete it; but it does appear to be false.
|
I heard something about it on the news earlier this afternoon, something about a Kuwaiti official saying something about it, I didn't catch the full story.
|
Wooo Hindustan Times!!
|
I'll bet the story is wrong. More likely that chemical/biological weapons were being smuggled INTO Iraq from Kuwait. GWB will see to it before October 2004 that WMD are found in Iraq. Either that or we will begin war on North Korea.

I think he's really pushing the envelope now. No one but the hard-righters (who would support him if he started killing babies) are free of doubts about the direction he is leading us. |
Hmm if this story was true Bush / Blaire would be jumping up and down shouting "I told you so". As they are still saying trust us we will find some weapons honest guv, I guess the story is bollocks.
|
I saw this a while ago and only from the source you linked. From what I can tell, that never happened because if it did, you can bet that the WhiteHouse or Pentagon would have made a big deal about it on the news to rally support. The fact that they haven't spoken of this suggests that it is not credible.
|
Nah, cant be true. If it were it would have been all over the front page of CNN, BBC and everywhere else.
