Corrupt

Do you believe our representatives are corrupt? What should we do about it? What can we do about it?

There will always be a few people who can't be honest, cant uphold their morals and cant obey the laws of the country they help to lead. In any situation, there will be someone who can be corrupted. Anyone who thinks otherwise is naive. But to think that the majority of governmental officials have their own agenda and do not work for their constituants, but rather it is a mass conspiracy to help a few select people is crazy in my opinion.

So yes, there will always be a few corrupt government officials, but i think we can rest assured teh the entire government is not ccorrupted and working against us.

It's it's somewhere bewteen some and quite a bit.

Almost every politician can be bought, many politicians do "favors" for companies/rich people (liberals and conservatives alike). There are few that aren't influenced by those factors at all.

Party on the other hand has a much bigger influence, so a few politicians being bought aren't the biggest thing to worry about.

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

I think that the riggamarole of getting money to get elected and re-elected requires that one must be atleast a little corrupt.

There is not much we can do.

Someone contributes a few million dollars, they might expect a "favor" on down the line. They donate that sum to the majority political party...Well, you kinda get the point.

How do we fix it? Basically scrap all current laws, restrictions, and regulations dealing with politicians, and re-write all of them.

Who are the only ones that can do that? The politicians. Thus:

We = Fucked.

I fucking wish. it's creepy, to me, to mention it but if we did can you imagine how quick we'd be taken out? the military would end up being involved and. . . we'd be dead in days. or waco style.

----------------------------------------------------------------

not all politicians are crooked and evil. same for cops. most of them, however, are.

right now nobody is on my hate list like the gov due to severe personal problems (very real issue that is fubar).

i think if want to ever get control again is to start protesting more peacefully as we did before we went back into Iraq. unfortunately a lot of fuckwits decided to make trouble...

we need to prove ourselves and that involves risk. the simple biggest problems with us are most of have no balls anymore. we love to bitch and bark but god forbid we have jail time or anything of that sort.

as for changing them, we have to cut off all moneys contributed. yes, our country will go apeshit awhile, but it is better to be crazy and straight than sane and crooked. if a company donates money and a politician accepts it: bam. he's out.

there is no reason whatsoever to sit and watch only because we know it will takes, if not decades to change. giving up gives them more power so you just contribute to the problem.

Soldiers are some of the most patriotic of Americans. If there were evidence to surface sufficient enough to spark a second revolution, I would bet that many in the military would be on our side.

I won't say they are so much "corrupt" as
inefficient, bureaucratic and pork-sucking workers.

They aren't evil, just fuckin' lazy non-thinkers.

I've never seen so much wasted as when I worked for the govt.
especially time.

oh yes! wasting money, being lazy, not doing their fucking job.... i understand! no corruption indeed!

dude. this is life. this is people's future, their money, we have people who slave away 80+ hours a week to pay these guys.

so if they don't do 10% of their jobs it should be counted as a criminal offense.

hell you've been working for years, you know employees can't fuck off their job. neither should they.

corrupt indeed.

True...and possibly true. Don't forget that these men and women took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign AND domestic. i think that you're going to have to present a pretty persuasive argument to them, one way...or the other.

Start a, Politics is not a career, movement. Chaps my buns when I hear a sitting politician say that the new guy doesn't have any experience and therefore can't represent the people. 1 term, that's it. Serve your country then get on with your life. Cuts down immediately on the cash for votes crap. Won't eliminate corruption, but it's a step in the right direction.

Clearly, some politicians are corrupt, hell, some garbage men are corrupt, some priests are corrupt, some of every profession are corrupt. The reality is MOST politicians get involved because they want to make a difference in their communities. Most politicians operate on a local level and never get the big perks or "payoffs" and even politicians on a national level are not all out for their own self interests. It is true that running for office requires individuals to beg for money and yes that can put them in difficult moral situations. Unfortunately, some of them do succumb to this pressure and the allure of power. I have worked for/with several politicians and for the most part, they have been wonderful, dedicated, impressive people. SOME indeed are corrupt, but not most.

I used to really feel this way, but I have come to the decision that I don't want to legislate away any more of my rights. If I want my state representative to be my voice at the legislature, then I sould have the right to try to put that person in office. Don't limit my rights. If you don't like the candidate, vote them out. Don't shirk your responsibility to learn about candidates, determine who will represent you the best and then get out and vote. Term limits are not the answer.
