I wonder where that surplus came from, how about the LARGEST tax hike in US history pushed though by slick willie!
|
The surplus probably had something to do with the booming economy. Now that times are tough, we need a tax cut to give the wealthy a lot of money back that they don't really need, wait no, to help the economy. I got an extra 300 dollars from his tax cut. WOWSERS!!! That made a huge difference in my quality of life! That's gonna really help the economy, because i can now buy three pairs of nikes. I think it is absurd for anyone who lives comfortably with plenty of disposable income to complain about taxes.

Bush and all of his cronies stand pretty firmly behind the beliefs of The Project for the New American Century, whose opening statement on their website sounds nothing more like one of Hitler's speeches to the Nazi Party. Just exchange "American" for "German".
You Bush supporters want to vote for that? I used to believe that the US should get all "big stick" with smaller nations, but now I just wish we could:

It appears to me that several people blame Bush for changing the surplus into a defecit and that's why they want him out. I say that not one single candidate running for President can fix the defecit/surplus problem himself if he wins the election. The problem is that more money is spent by the Federal Government than comes in through taxes. Check the Constitution, only Congress can spend tax dollars. The President presents requests to spend tax money, and he can try to persuade Congress to see things his way, but ultimately Congress has the final say. So, if you want a surplus, it's your Congressional representatives that have to do that.

True, but the paper constitution has been very different from the living constitution for the last 60 yrs. The fact of the matter is that proposing the budget has traditionally become the role of the presidency. And while it might ultimately be within Congresses power to not accept the presidents budget it is almost unheard of and viewed very negatively.
