EMU, The European Monetary Union
I live in Sweden and soon (September 14) we will have election about whether to join EMU or not.
I just wonderd what the 'outsiders', the noneuropean people think about this. The war between the yes camp and the no camp is as fierce as two male cats figting over a female cat in heat. From every direction we are bombarded with propaganda from either side. As it is now, the no side seems to have the majority of votes. Not even in school are we safe from these propagandists who come and talk about this and that makning promises of more jobs if we join and more jobs if we stay outside and you don't know who is telling the truth. It is a verry hectic time in our small country, our politicians are trying to forcefeed EMU down our throats while they talk trash about their fellow party-members who don't want the Euro. I've seen a couple of people from Finland and other countries that has joined EMU here and I wonder what their experiences with the Euro is as well. What do you all think?? |
Is the Krona backed by gold reserves that would then be held by the EMU? If that's the case I'd vote no. If is backed by the promise to repay then who cares, a promise is a promise.

As far as i know the issue about the reserves hasn't even been taken up to discussion. I haven't heard a thing about what will happend to those, but I'd suppose the Euro would be backed by these reserves.
