I find is honesty refreshing. I wish more people in office or running for office were this open about their ideas.

If this was published in some magazine 30 years ago I'm surprised the story hasn't surfaced more just in general since Arnold is a huge star. You'd think some Tabloid would have run a story on it years ago, and it would have been ingrained common knowledge for most people.

I find the radical latino group that Cruz Bustamante was in much more disturbing.

I can accept the fact of joining a radical group in the college. Its the past, so what. At the same time - this group sounds like the KKK. And you are definitely not going to see some Republican saying 'Yeah I was in the KKK, but that was 40 years ago.' Now a days that simply would not fly as an excuse.

I'm all in favour of holding candidates to the kind of standards they'd like to hold me to. I have no problem with most of what we're now hearing about Arnold's past (sexual harrasment/assault charges are unacceptable in my book), but I do have a problem with it if he's going to play nice with the wing of his party that would like to ban unmarried heterosexual intercourse, for example.

I dunno about calling "mecha" a big racist organization - sure they had people in there with racist ideology but nowadays most people see it as being one to boost latino/mexican cause if anything

if anything it only boosts his ratings in CA which has a majority of latino heritage

and as for arnold - i don't see how its going to boost his ratings

CA is pretty much big on a lot of the things he commented against or whatever - but at the same time, many californians also hold these types of things in their minds - all the school helping and stuff suddenly feels all controversial to some - image is a pretty big thing in elections

Being a celeb sure garners a lot of votes you want but controversies do not

I dunno the concept of returning the south west back to Mexico or whatever sounds rather extremist and idealistic to me. I can't honestly say I know much about Mecha, just what little i've heard on the news, and while not exactly KKK it still doesn't sound very welcoming....

His candid interview conducted 20+ years ago only reveals his zest for life. I applaud the man for his honesty.

They say an excuse is an excuse, but he at least doesn't bother to try to backpeddle out of this particular controversy.

Even in light of concrete proof many politicians out there would be denying and spinning this, so Arnold does deserve some credit here I think for not trying to two-step the mess.

Just the open-mindedness (real word?) is refreshing in and of itself. Even if it is from 20-some-odd years ago. He doesnt need to talk about it anymore, its already all out there in the open. Judging by the things he said i think he would still have spilled his guts if he knew he was gonna run 20 years later. He seemed like a person that wasnt ashamed of himself; his actions or his views. I cant speak for what he would do now, but back then i dont think he would have given a rat's ass what people thought hehe.

Honesty is not what counts. Being true to the values you claim to represent does. The Republican party is notorious for being against wild sex and drug use. To condone his past is a disservice to your own beliefs.

On a personal level, I thought it was an interesting read. He's an ok guy. I'm sure as hell not going to vote for him though, wild orgies or not.

Maybe we need to worry more about AHHnold's latent pedophilia.
