i'm not sure that the point of the rally is to get a bunch of people to go to dc in order to stand around being all beige and moderate. i think it's more to get people who aren't of the neo-fascist persuasion to turn out. it's also by extension a challenge to infotainment outlets like faux news, which has been fundamental to creating the tea party by giving it very considerable air time. so you can see how this sort of thing builds on the image of itself. well, on that and millions upon millions of dollars courtesy of those fine kansas koch brothers and other ultra-rightwing capitalist oligarchs.

so moderate in the sense of not the ultra-right. moderate in all kinds of senses.

it's an anti-tea party action. you get that, right x-man?

I do have a great digital camera. I took over 300 pictures.

I am amazed that the DC Metro system doesn't know how to handle rallies and crowds by now. It is clean, but they need to redesign the ticketing process, and create 'express' trains that only go from one station to the mall. Even the parking lots filled up, and I had no idea if there was extra parking (there was a high school close by that they should have directed people to). But, it would have been even nicer if there was a high speed train that would travel from Cleveland or Cincinnati to DC.

[insert picture 1041 here]

The signs came in three flavors: sane, funny to lefties, and making fun of the right. Weird or Halloween would make up another category

I can list a few of them here

Sane:

We're From The Internet - We're Here To Help

Another American for Competence

The Fear Is Too Damn High Party

Be Excellent To Each Other

Restore Sanity

Muslims For Peace ( 2 guys from muslimsforpeace.org)

I Want My Country Forward

I Really Like Your Sign

I'm For Effective Government - And Kisses

The END is probably still a long way off - Do you want to grab and ice cream or something?

Obama Probably Not Trying To Destroy America

Keep Calm and Carry On

Don't Panic

Work Together

I Don't Have Time For This

xkcd.com/470

Things Are Pretty Okay (slogan from above website)

I'm MAD AS HELL and likely eventually going to do something about it... Maybe if I move a few around.

iHoop

I Can Handle A Difference Of Opinion

I Like Anyone Who's Nice

This Rally Was On My Bucket List

Liberal:
The Rich Need To Pay Some Taxes

1/2 the vehicles in N. Virgina are SUVs, These Office Workers are using up the World's Oil & Getting Our Troops Killed

2 Protect Children - Legalize Pot

(Guy dresses as Grim Reaper) - Death Thanks The GOP For Their Stance On Healthcare Reform, You Guys Sure Make My Job Easy

Green Is Good!

When you teach a man to HATE and FEAR his brother, when you teach that he is a lesser man because of his color, or his beliefs, or the policies he pursues, when you teach that those that differ from you threaten your FREEDOM, or your JOB, or your FAMILY, then you also learn to confront others not as fellow citizens but as enemies, to be met not with cooperation but with conquest; to be subjugated and mastered. -RFK - 1969

Tea Leaves, Hope Stays

Freedom Isn't Free - We All Have To Pay Taxes

We Prefer Facts With Our Tea

Decaffeinate The Tea Party

You May Think That You Are Right, But You May Be Mistaken

Insane:
The Republican Contract On America:
1. Wreck The Economy
2. Blame Obama
3. Sell Nation To Highest Bidder

Mad HATEers are Running The TEA Party

(Guy dressed up as giant tea bag) I'm A Tea Bagger - Keep Fear Alive - Live Scared

(Picture of) Christine O'Donnell weights the same as a duck - (The girl holding it was dressed as a witch)

Up With Hope, Down With Dope (with picture of Obama and Beck)

Don't Drink The Tea

The Cable 'news' industry has killed investigative journalism and reduces current events to sound bites

I Masturbate to Christine O'Donnell

Millennials - You'd Better Be Nice To Us, We'll Be On our 'death panel'

Let's Compromise: You Can Practice Witchcraft if I Can Masturbate. Everybody Wins!

As an actual Communist, I Can Tell You Obama Is Not One (Guy dressed up in CCCP stuff)

Weird:
Fear The Amish

Has Anyone Seen My Car?

Where Am I?

I Made A Sine (with a sine wave on it)

Where's The Nearest Whole Foods?

Sorry if I am blocking you view

------------------------------

There there was a giant Dragon float that has a small after-party going on. I'll have to post some pictures sometime. I will also need to watch the DVR because they weren't audible wher I was standing

Ok that was funny. Reminds me of Jay Leno and his "street walking."

My favorite sign was one being held by a large breasted young lady in a tight t-shirt that read "I think we can all agree boobs are AWESOME!"

I agree.

Thanks, loquitur, that was hilarious...and just a little bit sad at the same time.
