Stupid brouhaha of the week
 

Michelle Obama is on the cover of Newsweek this week. No big deal - she's easy on the eyes, and she's fighting childhood obesity so it's all good.

But look closely at that apple on the table in front of her. There's an image there. Is it Jesus? Charles Darwin? Grigory Rasputin? A guy from ZZ Top? Karl Marx?

Surely there must be some hidden message. Some say it's Karl Marx. Looks more like Darwin to me. But it can't be innocent. It must be some kind of conspiracy.

Oh, I know!! It's the Ayatollah Khomeini!!

Actually, I think the conspiracy nuts will be very disappointed when they find out that it's really James Garfield.

Wait, whats this about? The image? People will make a fuss over the image reflected in an apple? Huh??

i am pleased that the james garfield cult is surfacing. soon their pernicious grip on american political life will become a matter of public debate. then it will be broken. fie on you james garfield people will say. fie on you.

That's not made it over the Atlantic yet, so this is the first time I've seen it - do you have a closer pic of the apple?

Daniel, in that bigger picture the image on the apple is clearer. And I think it has to be the guy from ZZ Top.

I thought it had a sort of Rasputin look to it.

Really though, what could possibly be the issue here and who would be getting upset over a vague face on an apple? The world just confuses me sometimes.
