New GOP Chairman is Model of Failure

Michael Steele, forever failing upward - War Room - Salon.com

As Seth Myers said on SNL this week, "Hey Republicans, it doesn't work with just ANY black guy!"

This guy has failed at everything he's touched and yet the GOP have deemed him the right guy to lead the party into the future.

EPIC FAIL

Despite the fact that Steele is a two-time loser for elective office, he was probably the least extremist of the candidates for RNC chair.....but that really doesnt say much.

David Dukes is up in arms!
GOP traitors appoint Obama Junior as Chairman of the Republican Party

I suspect Dukes wanted the runner-up, the South Carolina GOP chair who is more in his own image.

Steele has already spoken out about how the party cant win by relying solely on its base...but needs to shed its anti-minority image and to be open to a larger tent, including welcoming candidates who share many conservative values but who might also be pro-choice or pro-gay rights.

It could be a brilliant appointment or it could tear the party apart, with the social conservative base (and not just the David Dukes types) leading the charge.

I voted for the guy.

Normally no one cares. Without looking it up could you name 1 of the last three GOP chairs? In today's world of politics Obama proved that it is the message not the substance.

Does anyone take David Duke seriously? Does he have any influence at all? And if he does, how the hell did that happen?

An odd observation. Why would that be more true with Steele than with anyone else? I think that potential always exists for a political party that just lost the Presidency, and steam rolled in Senate and House elections.

Huh. I was thinking Steele might be the GOP's secret weapon against Obama in 2012, but I guess they need him now. My hope is that he stands the best chance at dragging the party kicking and screaming a bit closer to the center, but in truth he probably doesn't have the balls to stand up to the extremists. No on on the right wants to be the one to finally stand up and say, "Shut the fuck up.", so it's never going to happen.

as long as the majority of the GOP think Reagan is the ideal moving forward, they're screwed

Who stands up against the extreme left in the Democrat Party? It seems the best strategy (if one wants the nomination and then win the general) is to play to the extreme during the primary and then go to the center during the general election. Screw real core beliefs.

roachboy 02-03-2009 10:06 AM

what extreme left, ace? what on earth are you on about?

Are you suggesting that there is no extreme left? Or, am I missing your point

filtherton 02-03-2009 10:43 AM

The extreme left hates the Democratic party.

ace...take a peak under the Democratic party's big tent (and getting bigger all the time)

You will see liberal, conservative, moderate and a rainbow of faces, young and old.

I don't believe many feel they have compromised their core beliefs to be part of such a diverse group working together to make the country a better place to live.

But I can understand how one might make that charge if he/she is so rigid in an ideology that differences on a few issues means diversity of opinions are not welcomed.
