Which channel for the Inauguration?
I don't generally get my news from the television, so I'm not partial to any particular set of newscasters. I plan to record the inauguration and watch it later that evening, so I won't be able to browse to figure out which is the "best" channel - I need to choose it before it happens.
Which channel will you be watching, and why? |
i'm guessing it will be on a ton of stations. I'd think C-SPAN or maybe PBS would give you the feed with the least amount of interruption and commentary. I'll probably watch CNN
i'm heading to a party so will have no control over the feed...but i'd go with c-span personally.
C-SPAN. No botox'd suit-monkeys to interrupt your viewage.
BBC America will also have Inauguration coverage. I'll probably choose between them and the coverage on public broadcasting here.
I will probabaly be surfing between CNN FOX and CSPAN.
Cspan or PBS, light on graphics...CNN covers 1/2 of the screen with too much garbage.
I'll go with CNN.
Possibly CPAC (I'm in Canada :) )
I'll be at a party so I'll kind of have to go along with whatever my hosts put on. I'm guessing it will be CNN.
As it will be midday, this will be during the middle of the night.
I will likely be asleep. If I can stay awake, it will likely be CNN. |
CNN International or BBC. Depends, much like others on here, what the host decides as I'm going out to see it.
CBC Newsworld, or maybe CPAC if they cover it. This post is completely useless to Redlemon for deciding, as I don't imagine he gets either.
May I suggest unplugging the TV and promptly tossing it in the dumpster just prior to inauguration? You know, for full effect.

We tried to get the BBC video feed online, but our Internet connection sucks at work, so we'll just keep in tune to CBC Radio 1 and hope the do something worthwhile.
I'll watch some footage once I get home tonight. |
nice day for the inauguration
Obama looks really serious.
That was some speech. Really, that was even better than I was expecting.
Yes, it was better than I was expecting too. Somehow I doubted that speech could be up to the moment, given what the press has made out of Obama's inauguration, but it was very well done.
Ended up watching it online on MSNBC. They were decent enough to keep quiet during the important parts.
Saw some on CNN Europe, some on BBC News 24.
i watched some of cbs feed.
what idiots they had talking talking talking in the way that american baseball announcers talk talk talk--like baseball announcers, they seem to assume you can't figure out what you're seeing. at one point, they helpfully explained that what you were seeing at the center of the image was obama encased in what was, in fact, an overcoat--a point about there really was not a whole lot of room for ambiguity---they continued by saying that he wore this overcoat in response to the cold weather, and added that obama was sensitive to the cold, and so wore an overcoat. by all appearances, they were concerned that the sudden appearance on a cold day of an overcoat would derail the viewership, perhaps sending them en masse toward their refrigerators to grab a sandwich or god knows what. and this was something of an analytic high point. fucking idiots. |
OMG, Political suicide!

Listened to it on TalkSport.
CNN was pretty good outside of Wolf Blitzer, who can barely speak
BBC News 24 online. I'm in the UK.
Listened to it on NPR

Thanks everyone. I went with PBS, and fast-forwarded through most of the commentary.
