People complained about the moderator of the VP debate... but Brokaw... ?
Jesus H Christ...
Hiding behind experience, not even mentioning Obama - especially after a "Meet The Press" where all he did was hand gimmies to the republican mouthpiece... WTF? I thought he might have been more than a tad biased toward McCain a few times last night - waiting for McCain (or not and moving on) to give his approval before allowing Obama to reply or not to some outrageous slurs that have long since been disproven - but that interview takes the cake. Even Jeremy Paxman - the most admired and usually most able to extract the truth type journo in the uk - (who if you look for a Charlie Rose interview with him admits to crossing from a youthful firebrand lefty over to a staunch and staid conservative - even Monarchist!) holds both Tory, Labour, Libdem and Independent's feet to the flames every night he's on? Has it really come to this? Senator McCain this, Sentor McCain that... Senator McCain is doing this, Senator is doing this, I don't see a winner (*cough* POLLS *cough*), they both need to adapt, slur both, Senator McCain, Senator McCain, Senator McCain... Good Lord. If that man passes for an arbiter for truth then the you gents and gentesses are in a worse position than i ever thought possible. I can even start to understand why some cling to their outlandish, outmoded, outdated rightwingerism... How do you hold a 3 minute+ conversation on a presidential debate without ever mentioning a negative Vs the candidate who clearly lost (by popular acclaim and polling, by a large margin), and at the same find a way not to even mention the name of the candidate who clearly did better/won? *shakes head* I mean... It's a two horse race. Surely he didn't forget which horse he was backing, coming from the 'liberal media'. Oh, I see........ |
i can't really check right now, but i remember reading about 50 ways brokaw is tied to mccain...
|
Maybe's it's early but I'm not seeing any bias.
I'll watch it again after some caffeine. |
I didn't see it in the debate.
I don't see it in this interview. He was asked three questions. Before the debates, one of the main topics had been if McCain was going to be able to reclaim the points he'd lost. His overall impression, in the few seconds he was given, was that McCain "held his own". The second question specifically asked about McCain's performance. The third question didn't elicit any candidate-specific response. Although he didn't give his opinion on who won, his responses were professional and unbiased. I think you're seeing something that's simply not there. |
We all know that Brokaw is a conservative mouthpiece.. I guess though the beef with Ifill was the fact that she has a vested interest in the Obama campaign winning.
Either way, they both sucked. |
Brokaw moderated the worst debate I have ever seen, and inspite of the rules agreed to, he did an amateurish job. He should be embarrassed. I have seen local school board candidate debates better moderated.

holy crap
i kinda agree with ace :) seriously, i thought he did a kinda halfarsed job and did not exercise decent judgment. i didn't notice too much of a bias except that he seemed to allow mccain more of a leeway on responding that he didnt allow obama at first..on the other hand, by that time in the debate, he'd already lost control fo time constraints and probably just said fuckit |
It seemed to me that he would bring up the time constraints after Obama went over and not after McCain. I don't think he did it intentionally but he did do that.
What I really hated about this debate was that a candidate could wait until he was going second and then make all kinds of outlandish claims and Tom wouldn't let the other guy respond. |

ugh no wonder mccain likes the townhall meetings :) seriously, i'd prefer a standard debate :) |

And yeah, I thought Brokaw was way too chummy with McCain at the debate. |
