Let me see your 'worst' Obama videos here
I just had a very odd discussion with my mother. She said it was sad that this election had one vice presidential candidate and one presidential candidate that were barely articulate.
I had made a post on my blog about the disaster that is, oh, every time Palin opens her mouth, and she thought I was being unfairly biased, since "Sure, she can be made to look silly when confronted with a hostile audience, but Obama is just as bad a public speaker, youtube just deletes his bad videos, and he is dumb, too--he doesn't even know how many states there are!" I've seen the "wrong number of states" video in question and he was obviously either making a dry joke or just mis-spoke. Agree or disagree with Obama's politics, the man is articulate and intelligent. Please help me find the least articulate video of him speaking so I can compare it to Palin, thus removing my blog's "bias" |

People slip up and say the wrong things sometimes. It happens. That's why TV station christmas parties are highlighted by the blooper reel of all the screwups reporters/anchors made over the past year. We look forward to seeing those for months. It doesn't mean the reporter is a moron. (other things usually prove that).
The difference between Obama accidentally saying the wrong number, and Palin actually not knowing anything about foreign policy (I can see Russia from my house and therefore I'm qualified as a foreign policy expert) or the Bush Doctrine (vacuous look when asked, then incorrectly guessing as to what it might be), or believing that one needs protection from being hexed by a witch, is vast. |

I'm not sure what the real point is here... because as shakran pointed out, people slip up and say the wrong things. But I'll play.
Do you speak Obama? Saddleback Forum Do you speak Obama? Columbia forum Obama lost without a teleprompter 57 states! Barack Obama "Uh" Count - David Letterman Obama and McCain On The View - More of a statement about shameless bias.

His basic problem is that he says 'um' (Letterman vid) too often instead of just taking a quick pause. It appears as if he's been working on that, I heard less of that during his first debate. As far as The View goes, it is a daytime talk show for stay at home wives. They are not journalists (except Walters). They are not a news program and don't portray themselves as one. There is no reason they should be unbiased. Using that as an example of media bias is pretty weak. -----Added 2/10/2008 at 05 : 17 : 17----- The difference with Palin is that her general answers are nonsense. She rambles on and on (Couric interviews) Last edited by kutulu; 10-02-2008 at 01:17 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Obama stammers when he speaks off the cuff. Much less lately--I think he's gotten some very good coaching on that. And two times he said things that were silly and got lots of airtime. Do you think anyone really actually thinks he doesn't know how many states there are? Seriously?
Palin pulls shit out of her ass and hopes she doesn't get called on it. She lies when she thinks that'll work, and when she can't lie, she rambles through a series of buzzwords hoping to put enough fug in the air that she can escape, like a squid in a cloud of verbal ink. I heard today, by the way, that she's never been to the single tiny Aleutian island where you can see Russia from Alaska. To seriously compare the two... I don't know, it seems to me you'd have to be looking for an excuse to harsh on Obama. |

well, i don't think it ultimately makes any difference whether obama is on video hesitating or saying dumb things from time to time---the context that he has created just by being on air alot demonstrates that they're mistakes. mc-cain makes them as well--but i don't oppose mc-cain for that. in fact, i don't know anyone in their right mind who makes a decision based on whether someone who is filmed long enough and often enough will fuck up. the reasons i oppose mc-cain are that i oppose everything that he has offered in terms of policy. i would hope that republicans have decided to oppose obama because of policy evaluations that they have made for themselves. i like to think that most folk are not as stupid as they are treated as being.
palin---what is there to say at this point? the comparison is not between obama and palin, but biden and palin, and even there, its a distraction.

To be fair we should start a forum with the same subject focused on McCain. Also we should prohibit edited videos like the first couple otto posted. You could make someone say anything by splicing.... Case in point:

uh... uh... uh... sorry about the edited pieces, but there were no rules. I prefaced my entries that everyone mis-speaks.

sorry, otto, but i think the american juche ideal is a special place that the ultra-right knows most about.
you know, Nation and National Destiny and Lebensraum for Resources and the Cult of the Action-Figure "Leader" the Decider and all that. the kinda guy who'd stuff a bandana down the front of his borrowed flight suit before parading around in front of a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner. you get the idea, i'm sure.

Do I believe it's message? No... I did interject a little humor to play along. So what's desperate about posting this video? Is it your assumption that Obama has the election sewn up? The polls are still within the margin of error... a statistical tie exists. Perhaps start your own 'worst' McCain/Barr/Nader videos thread. I'd be happy to contribute.

though i have to say that if you want to delve into the world of north korean pop, wonders of a staggering proportion await you.
it's all a function of your tolerances for cheese. mine are quite high. others call this stuff "dreadful" but i think--how can hymns to the sporting genius of dear leader, hero of international football, sung by a choir of thousands be bad?
