words of wisdom....
I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be
depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts. -- Abraham Lincoln ...........a truly great man xoxoxoo

Unfortunately, when Lincoln spoke of "the people" he meant the people of a certain skin tone.
For some words of wisdom I would prefer: "Your Honor, years ago I recognized my kinship with all living beings, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, and I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it" - Eugene Debs

Lincoln, for all his greatness, was also a man whose thoughts and beliefs on race and "civil growth" were as unenlightened as any man of the times.
From his opening remarks at the fourth Lincoln - Douglas debate: Quote:
