Ok, thats it. I know what I'm going to do. I'm gonna go to the US and travel from one end of the country to the other, loudly stomping around and complaining about the food, the terrible accents, the fashion, the music and the general culture; gripe to every other world citizen I meet about how "dim the locals are" and try to confuse as many people by affecting the strongest ocker Australian accent I can possibly manage.

Seriously though, I wouldn't live in the US. It's not because I hate Americans. Its just...they're annoying. I think thats the main problem most people have with the United States, its the hubris. Speak softly but carry a big stick, that was a good policy. Running around poking people with your big stick and loudly proclaiming the supremacy of your big stick over all other such sticks, it might be all right for a while but I get the impression it will all end in tears. We'd all like Americans, and the US in general, if you just turned the volume down a tad.

Oh, and for those speculating about what the world would be like if the US disappeared, heres an interesting scenario: http://users.metro2000.net/~stabbott/AHnoamericans.htm
It's a bit dated now, but its still funny.

The middle of an armed conflict, with which a good portion of the world disagreed, is probably the wrong time to debate what the world thinks of the good old USA.

Let's check back in on this subject in a couple of years.

Thanks for listening.

wwcd, we didn't much like America before S11 and Iraq either. Individually, you're not too bad, but collectively, you've always been given to telling us that you're better. Even when you're not (Best health care and education in the world?)

You Yanks love to start a fight. But have you ever finished one. We Aussies always get called in to clean up.
1. Osama Bin Laden
2. Saddam Hussein
3. Gaddaffi
To name just a few you have tried to get but missed.
American people I have found to be great. But your fearfull leaders have been wankers. Sticking their heads in where they are not wanted and talking up what they will do to Terrorists and the like.

I do recall a thread last year, can't rem what about but the bottom line was that every country except America was a second rate one and this was posted a lot. This I found hard to swallow.

Ireland is my home. I live here and will most likely die here.My political views about Ireland may be thought of as being very republican, but I feel very strongly about my homeland
I have traveled most of Europe and would not live there
I do not pass comment on any other place I have never been.
It is extreem arroganct to be able to pass such comments on somewhere you have never been and that is what pisses off people IMO about Americans

No, really, they do. But it's nothing new, so why worry about it now?

Bombs away.
