powerclown.... is this an example of "the problem"?

From republican Reps. John Shadegg and Pete Hoekstra:

....Thanks to the liberal mainstream media, Americans fully understand the consequences of continuing our efforts in Iraq -- both in American lives and dollars.....
Shadegg and Hoekstra are accused by house majority leader, Steny Hoyer, of signing and distributing a letter to all of their fellow republican house members that contained the above quote. In the recent past, powerclown posted an advocacy on another TFP politics thread, for this:

Classic, in the sense of the existence of rules of engagement, troop formation, attack/defense theory, intelligence, reconnoissance, etc.
My interpretation of Sherman's quote relates to warfare within these parameters.
When the quickest way to victory was through the complete and utter annhilation of formal, uniformed enemy troops.
It seems to me that, if you must must must go to war, make it as quick and as merciful as possible, for both fighter and civilian.
I understand none of this applies to current day Iraq, anymore unfortunately.
More like being slowly torn to pieces by wild dogs I would imagine.

Have you read Biden's plan?
The plan is to share the oil.
There are many important incentives driving this.
Turkish invasion is not a foregone conclusion as you would have it.
Turkey has an immense amount riding on entry into the EU.
Invasion would end those aspirations.
Turkey would likely be isolated for attacking a sovereign nation.
Goodbye Turkish aspirations to be on good terms with the West.
Goodbye entry into the EU.
Goodbye Turkish economy.
Goodbye stability in Turkey.
It is in Turkey's interests to see a stable northern Iraq.

Let military journalists report the news.
I trust them more than I trust a left-leaning MSM at this point.

I see this issue as a defining one for the opposing political sentiments of our time, in the US. Is a war legitimate....and "worth" fighting by the most powerful military in the history of the world......worth sacrificing the lives of US troops, if it cannot risk challenges to it's justification, legitimacy, costs, geopolitical and national security consequenses, and sustainability.....from an unimpeded flow of information from competing sources of a free press?

Thank god we live in a free society where people, millions of people, are free to say even the most ludicrous drivel imaginable.
The American Constitution, which our soldiers have fought and died for, is indeed a work of pure, unadulterated genius.

Oh, it's adulterated all right. Please see amendments, etc.

Thank god we live in a country where you don't even read the first post and then you try and take a stab at a very smart person. What were we talking about?

Either you trust the main stream media or you don't. I really don't see any point in deliberating that personal judgement. Beyond the fact that the media is allowed to report on facts in any story that doesn't directly compromise national security, I don't what this particular debate is about beyond a throwaway line in another thread.
