It has me as a liberal when I consider myself much more of a centerist. I don't like the way some of the questions are worded, though. There were too many exceptions to some of them.

Libertarian, answered agree on all questions except for one maybe.

Libertarian. It definetly is biased towards coming out to Libertarian though.

I came out liberal also but this test is a bad one. I'm more centrist. There are few to questions, it didn't ask questions on many hot topics like abortion, gun control, religion, ect. Also the questions are worded poorly to bias results.

First time I've ever seen myself self described as Liberal. At the same time they said I was Libertarian.

I think its the 3rd time its showed up in politics. Yea I'm a libertarian, woot, thats news.

Next time this quiz comes through it needs to have a poll at the top. This way, after we take the quiz we can click on the button and see graphically how we compare. I like graphs.

In my personal experience, people who hold liberal views often don't see themselves as liberal. Is the same thing showing up here?

That quiz is pretty much rigged to make you come out as a libertarian... which isn't surprising considering its purpose. Nothing to see here, folks.

Why do you guys think the quiz is rigged?

Is the quiz really "rigged" or could it be maybe that you guys actually agree on some very basic fundamental points presented in the quiz?

Or perhaps it seems rigged because the definitions under which the quiz operate are different from the definitions under which you operate. <- which I believe is the most likely reason people are in disagreement with the quiz

Check it's definitions and see if they agree with yours:

Right (Conservative)
Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently
support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates "traditional
values." They oppose excessive government control of business,
while endorsing government action to defend morality and the
traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong
military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market
economy, and endorse strong law enforcement.

Left (Liberal)
Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal
matters, but tend to support significant government control of the
economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net"
to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation
of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations,
defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action

Libertarian

Statist (Big Government)

today's world. Statists tend to distrust the free market, support
high taxes and centralized planning of the economy, oppose
diverse lifestyles, and question the importance of civil liberties.

Last month I scored Libertarian, and I understood why. Just now, I scored centrist because some of my beliefs have changed. Frankly, because of some things the quiz didn't ask, I should've scored as a blatant statist. But I don't think the quiz is "rigged" to score anybody as a libertarian.

it's not that it's rigged to score people as libertarian, it's the wording of the questions involved. i mean, who doesn't want gov't to cut spending and taxes...who wants the gov't to force people into military service, who wants a national ID card or laws against consenting adults havnig sex?

or, who wants "corporate Handouts"

I believe that most people do not want government to cut spending and taxes. We may talk like we do but when it comes time to vote we put the same tax and spend polititians back in office. Polititians must promise all kinds of special interest groups more money so that they can get re-elected. Hardly any of them run under a platform of "sorry folks you are going to have to tighten your belts and do with less".

flstf, while that may be true, i believe it is more of voter education and a lack of real choices in whom to vote for..you get either tax and spend politician A or tax and spend politician B or no chance in hell candidate C..

A lot of this is because although it's easy to say, "hey lets cut costs and taxes by x%" but when you get down to it this means cutting things that are performing some sort of service to the citizens.

Libertarians like to talk the talk about how they will cut everything 'non-essential' but I don't think many people really want to live in a country that doesn't have government-enforced standards for safety, environmental things, etc.

I believe there is much non-essential government spending. The railroad to the casinos (linked below) and the bridge to nowhere are two examples. How many of these boondoggles do you think we would find if we took the time to really study government spending?
This money was attached to the "Iraq/Katrina Emergency Appropriations Bill". I saw Thad Cochran on a news program being chided for adding this to an emergency spending bill and he said " an emergency is whatever the Senate says is one". And so it goes....

I agree that this thing is slanted towards Libertarians- but that doesn't really bother me as I've identified myself as one for some time now. If only we could break in as a real 3rd party one of these elections. We need some high profile or independantly wealthy candidate, like Perot was.
