bill of rights debates

how popular, or unpopular, would threads be about each individual BoR amendments?

edit -
debating interpretations, maybe even court decisions on them. I pose this because such a huge issue about supreme court nominations was made and how it would affect things.

I'm not sure how you would frame the conversations, so I gave a smartass vote. What are you contemplating here? A discussions of the benefits of each one? Whether they're right or wrong? Interpretation?

Personally, I love discussions like this, but I'm not sure where you'd start or even want to discuss.

Edit - given your recent edit, I'm all for a debate on interpretations, although I can't do any better than Family Guy's right to Bear Arms bit.

Sorry, I had to vote 'Why does Bill of Rights get his own thread', but I would welcome a bill of rights debate.

I think it's an interesting idea, but if you want to do it I'd suggest limiting it to one amendment at a time - or at least staggering the threads out by a week each. That wouldn't be the worst idea in terms of the expectations of discourse either... It wouldn't take long for people to figure out that they ought to do their homework before diving in head first.

There has been some discussion in how the right to privacy was used to legalize abortion. Some have argued that there is no such right. I would find it informative to see those arguments fleshed out.

I figure that once the poll is over, i'd start out with the first, go in order, one at a time.

I'll debate pretty much anything.

Sounds interesting. Also for us non-US types out there. Such discussions could give good perspectives of US politics.
If you could though, please add an introduction to the discussions to give everybody an idea of what's what, or give some references....

I will title each new thread with the appropriate amendment or topic.
