1. FoxNews is and has been a target of the Left since its inception. If this was CBSNews, it would be chalked up as an honest mistake and the anger filled post would not have been posted. To think otherwise is both naive and intellectually dishonest

2. The avatar is a politcal statement. Me and my family have experienced true racism and discrimination, so please spare me the lecture. Youre white and come from a privilaged background and wouldnt know what racism really is if it hit you square in the face.

3. This is a private website and thus there is no freedom of speech. The owner and mods have granted people here that freedom and we should all be thankful for that privledge.

having read through some more posts, I see that your avitar is racist and involves torture. I'm not in the "Know" in this respect, so most likely am missing something.

To further elucidate the "thrown out on their asses" comment: The Liberal party of Paul Martin received fewer seats in the election than the Conservative party of Stephen Harper (103 to 124). In Canada you need to win 155 seats to form a majority government. So, the conservatives hold a slim lead and form a Minority government, along with a very strong Liberal and left of Liberal opposition.

A vote of non-confidence, usually a budget vote, can bring the government down if the Conservatives all vote, and there are more than 124 combined votes against it. This is basically the scenario that prompted this election.

Hopefully that doesn't happen again too soon. Sometimes I think that the Yank method of scheduling Federal elections every 4 years is more efficient/stable.

So, based on the numbers, you could say that the Conservatives have been "thrown in on their asses" and it's their government to lose now.

It's not about how much American's know or understand about Canada, our system, culture and way of life. But if you are going to report on a change in government in one of the worlds leading econominic nations and the US's largest international trade partner (and visa versa) then at least do some bleeping research!!!!!!

Afterall though, this is Fox so it's sort of expected. They'll probably report some story about how Harper is right of center an wants to merge with the US and form one big country.

Do you know why it would have been chalked up to an honest mistake had CBS done this? Becaue CBS is more dependable that Fox News for truth. They use less 'spin' than Fox News. It is not unreasonable to asume that this may have slipped through due to disinterest in Canada and it's governmental system. It could have also been ignorance (Fox News: what's a Prime Minister?). Fox News has a track record that we have to take into account when looking at a 'mistake' like this one. To ignore that record is "both naive and intellectually dishonest".
I'm white and I was born into a mostly white community. One could even call me previlaged. Of course that has nothing to do with whether one has dealt with discrimination, and everyone knows that. Someone claiming they know discrimination any better than anyone else clearly has no sense of reality.

Fox thinks it's the center of the universe, and this serious error only drives that point home all the faster.

Got this as a response to an email I sent to Fox about the screw-up, hopefully they actually fix it, yet they still try to blame it on the AP.
No idea when they started, but I remember visiting my parents in the summer and sure enough Fox was there, so it wasn't recent that they were 'allowed' to broadcast, it's been going on for a while.

This is really a serious error? Wish there was this much resentment when all those Katrina stories were proven false, those "mistakes" actually matter.

We can make a huge thread all about media bias and both sides would have plenty of ammo. And I'm not sure if you want to compare track records either; your side wouldnt fare too well. However, it was a minor error that clearly got past the fact checkers and editors over there. Its not like it was something that led to the deaths of people overseas, like a certain Newsweek story whcih was proven false. All it did was upset a few Canadians and give fodder to those who love to whip FoxNews.

Key words MY FATHER. And no I state my father believes that he should pay his fair share to make sure the system that helped him helps others.

I have also stated my father was extremely poor growing up, my parents started out very poor with me. As most families, it wasn't until my sister and I left that my father made as much as he does now.

But me personally, Yes I have stated I have seen reverse discrimination, I have been attacked for the color of my skin, for my religious views and so on. Nor have I exactly lived a "priviledged life". My mistakes and addictions have taken me to levels not many have gone to and I wouldn't call them "priviledged" in any respect other than for me to look back on and appreciate what I have now.

Truth be known I haven't talked to my father since the divorce (I couldn't get him OSU alumni tickets anymore..... poor guy). He considers me a failure because in his eyes I haven't succeeded in life. And not once since I left home did he ever help me, nor have I ever expected him too.

He also hates the fact I am closer to my mother than him.

But he's an asshole who only talks to my sister when he wants tickets to the Fiesta Bowl or wants to use her for something.

Writing what I did about my father was the most rage I have expressed in his direction for sometime and it was very therapeutic..... so thank you for that in some odd way.

What I find interesting is that in two threads now I've seen more than one complaint about NCB's avatar and it's offensive nature... and yet... no mods have stepped in yet.

I personally find it offensive, not because of what's depicted, but that you (NCB) would make light of your country acting horrificly towards the captives you had in Iraq... disgusting... If I were an American I'd be ashamed of you. Hell... I still am and I'm Canadian.
