Canada: Election Test

The Globe and Mail has gone through all the party platforms and created this quiz that will show you where you stand in comparison to the party platforms.

TAKE THE TEST

I was surprised. I choose a lot of Green issues. One from the Liberals, one from the NDP and one from the Conservatives (I happen to agree with their increase in military spending).

How do you stack up?

Martian 01-19-2006 08:10 AM

3 NDP, 2 Liberal and (suprisingly) 2 Bloc.

jth 01-19-2006 08:29 AM

wow 1 liberal 3 green and 1 bloc, which I don't find so surprising the Block one, they have some great ideas... just not with the whole seperation thing.

Was surprised with the green thing. But hey, what can I do, I voted Liberal anyway

Leto 01-19-2006 08:35 AM

wow. I had no idea: Liberal: 4, Conservative: 2, NDP: 0, BLOC: 0

Daval 01-19-2006 08:47 AM

ACK ACK ACK

Liberal 0
Conservative 1
NDP 4

what did you expect? is it way off of what you intended to vote? where does that leave you?

BigBen 01-19-2006 09:14 AM

Jesus, I'm Green...

There isn't even a person running as a green candidate in my riding (I think).

Now what do I do?

Charlatan 01-19-2006 09:34 AM

Ben... vote NDP. It's the next best choice after Green.

Daoust 01-19-2006 09:44 AM

2 Conservative, 2 NDP as I expected. I voted Green on the Economy question. Hmmm. Interesting.

skier 01-19-2006 09:52 AM

Liberal 3
Conservative 0
NDP 1
Bloc 0
Green 3

Pretty much how I expected. Don't want to vote Liberal- it's time they left. I would rather add my (Insignificant) weight to NDP than green, but it's still up in the air even now.

Siege 01-19-2006 10:21 AM

3 Liberal, 1 Conservative, 1 Bloc, 2 Green.

I'm all over the freaking place.

highthief 01-19-2006 12:46 PM

Liberal 1
NDP 1
Bloc 1
Green 4
Conservative 0

About what I expected. I really think the Greens have it going on.

feelgood 01-19-2006 01:28 PM

Temporary_User 01-19-2006 01:49 PM

damn little text. I view my computer from my tv. so I cant view that that well. I kept on zooming in and out. then when I was done, I realized that when I had my mouse on one button zoomed it, it made it so I was clicking a different button.
so I dont know where I stand, and am going to be one of those ignorant people who dont vote.

Bossnass 01-19-2006 03:00 PM

I've often whined that I didn't know who to vote for.

2 liberal
2 conservative
2 ndp
1 bloc

mutter.

Willravel 01-19-2006 04:17 PM

1 liberal, 0 conservative, 3 NDP, 1 bloc, 2 green
Not bad for an American, eh?

Lucifer 01-19-2006 04:40 PM

Liberal 1
Conservative 1
NDP 1
Bloc 2
Green 2

Well, just call me Jean, and I'll move to Quebec! Screw it, I'm still voting NDP!

That's hilarious... I feel for you.

Charlatan 01-19-2006 05:44 PM

Willravel: I'd like to see more Americans take this test. I think they would need to add "none of the above" to some of the pages.

streak_56 01-21-2006 11:05 AM

3 conservative, 2 NDP and 2 Green. I went with the green party on law and education. I could never vote for the NDP because they still think that they could not be a rival party. When Jack Layton was debating he kept explaining their policies and used "the NDP will do that for you." And I think that this election, the green party will come into the picture. I feel that without an "face" to lead them, everyone will be lost within the other parties.

highthief 01-21-2006 11:58 AM

I'm surprised the Greens haven't managed to wrangle a name to lead their party. The people are intelligent, earnest and have great policies, but they keep getting shut out of national debates and the like. If they had someone with more notoriety (not say I want one of these people, but say a prominent provincial politician to lead them - a Bob Rae, a Mike Harris, former premier, big city mayor type) they could be ignored and would win a few seats.

Bob Biter 01-21-2006 04:37 PM

Liberal: 0
Conservative: 0
Bloc: 1
NDP: 2
Green: 4

Look at that! A Quebecer that won't vote for the Bloc!

blahblah454 01-21-2006 05:32 PM

Liberal: 1
Conservative: 1
NDP: 2
Bloc: 0
Green: 3

Seeing as I am a total nature buff I am not surprised that I ended up with mostly green... but seeing as I am an Albertan I am guessing you guys can probably guess what I am voting for.

I agree that this is just what they need. Perhaps they will get a better share of the votes this time... most likely not all that many.

The funny thing is, the NDP missed a big opportunity a few years back, before Layton became the leader, to become more like what the green party is today. They floundered through the 90s with some weak leadership and were in need of "something".

Given the new NDP (no deficits, tax cuts, etc.) they are much more like the Green's. Reading their policies, they have many similarities... if they were to unite or form a coalition of some sort, they might avoid splitting their votes.

Fly 01-21-2006 08:07 PM

3 greens for me too..........

CandleInTheDark 01-21-2006 09:59 PM

4 Cons
2 Greens
1 NDP

I voted green in the advance poll.
