New York Fall Foliage - new pics 10/27

It's about peak foliage time here in the Hudson Valley. These are some pictures I took around the area in the last week.

I love them all! But being from NY, I am a bit partial. The Hudson Valley is a lovely area.

Me too. I think it's because the tractor just looks so bizarre and unnatural...

absolutely stunning...

I'm a waterfall fan myself - but the tractor one is really cool looking... (I think I'd like it better without the person on it...could you ask him to get off it please ? :D

Excellent work, you've got a great eye and some serious talent..

The Cold weather had to wait until my visit to New York was over ... and I am extremely jealous about what I am missing. Thanks for sharing some awesome shots :)

This is Kaaterskill Falls. It's on Rt 23A between the towns of Palenville and Tannersville. If you head west on Rt 23A from Palenville, you will be driving up a pretty windy road. You will pass a turn with a waterfalls on the right hand side. Continue maybe another 1/2 mile and there will be a parking area on the left, which fills up quicklly on nice summer days. You might also be able to park on the road, but there are spots marked no parking. Walk back down the hill, just past the falls, and there is a trail that goes along the falls. Walk about 1/2 mile and you are at the base of the falls.

This is supposed to be the highest falls in NY.

Being that I just visited New York, I gotta admit the state is kinda pretty for a place that I naturally don't like.

Absolutely amazing shots, only thing I'm critical about is the frames.

beautiful.....I love the one with the guys in the boat

Good stuff, dogzilla! Shots like yours always remind me what of what a beautiful state we live in.

Gonna try to get out this weekend to shoot some colors. still plentiful around this neck o' the woods.

thanks! I'll have to make a trip up there from the city.

from one of the waterfall hunting sites I use to help me find them here in the US. (normally my hunting is done in Iceland where there are 1,000s of waterfalls)

Kaaterskill Falls

Quote:

Kaaterskill Falls is frequently thought of as the tallest waterfall in New York, although T Lake Falls (300'), Inspiration Falls (350'), and Roaring Brook Falls (325') are taller. It's still a bona fide giant by east coast standards. When I first visited the falls in October of 2005, I was sufficiently blown away. I got lucky and got high water. This waterfall is a bona fide gem. Lake Creek leaps about 180' into a wide ampitheater then collects itself for the final 80' leap. My eye wants to say the lower falls are less than 80', but I've been wrong before.
