Thanks for all the nice replys everyone. Jimellow, you're right. Thanks, I didn't know what it looked like in more natural light either. So I watched him building his web tonight and tried to get some better close ups.

Here he's starting his web.

Later, open for business.

Taking a picture of the full moon is harder than i thought. Anyone have any pointers?

I love that first pic with the washed out spider. Makes it look like a cool special effect and not that creepy. After looking at the later pics and seeing how large and ugly it is... ugh! I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that thing is alive near me.

You say that now, but just you wait till he lays eggs in your nose while you sleep!

How true! And a hazard to be avoided! So I sleep in the house and let the spider do his thing outside. But it wasn't always so. During a two year all expense paid trip to the Panama Canal i spent two weeks a month in the jungle and slept on the jungle floor at night. Gained a profound respect for all Gods creatures, great and small (well, except for mosquitos). (Oh yea, and rats, but that's another story ).

A little spider with a marvelous enginnering talent is cool with me.

Best, Dennis

He/she/it is tough to call when it comes to insects.

This thread started as a Halloween prank. Seriously, spiders are very dangerous. I'm fortunate that there's enough space here that I can leave him alone. If he moves too close to the house, he will be history!

It started as a prank?

Anyway, I love spiders. I will posting my spider tattoo soon. I hope that everyone who has commented in this thread about not liking spiders will still like me! People tell me that I scare them sometimes after seeing my tattoo. It's REALLY big!

I love that picture of that spider on the leaf. Wonderful. I think spiders are abslutely wonderful. Just fascinating and intriguing! These tiny little creatures can make the toughest, hardest, most brave, courageous, fearless, intrepid and bold men scream like a child! Spiders cause people to feel fear. They demand respect and Are respected!

If he moves to close to the house don't kill it!! Just move him further away!

These little spiderweb thingys are all over everything. The trees, the fence, the house, the yard, everything! I asked someone what they are. They said baby spiders . Oh sheeiit! Mother Natures arachnid dispersal system!

What's that sound in my head? Twilight zone music.
