The View From Your Bedroom

What do you see every morning when you wake up?

Here's the view from my bedroom window. My house is a crap-hole, but the view is priceless.

Meditrina 07-15-2005 04:50 PM

Wow, you two have some spectacular views!

(I hope my attachment works here... not quite sure how to make this work)

Here's what I see when I wake up in the morning. Quite literally. I woke up one morning, sun was filtering through my window. Grabbed my camera and voila .

Cynthetiq 07-16-2005 06:26 AM

daniel, I'm not familiar with S. England, (evne though my MIL lives in London currently) but it's quite nice to see that there's some water activity.

girly - I miss the trees of the mountains of So. Cal.

There's three sailing clubs on the river/harbour I live by, and two Sea Scout groups (one of which I was a member of for many years as a kid). There's also a canoe club on the river, and a couple of surf/windsurf/kite-surf beaches within a couple of miles.

My brother used to be in the UK under 21's whitewater kayak team, and my father has competed (and won his class) in many fastnet races for the UK and on one occasion for Papua New Guinea.

Nick Baker who spent much of the 90's as a very successful pro-windsurfer was once my assistant Patrol leader - it was me that taught him the basics of dinghy sailing before he got into windsurfing.

In 2012 the Olympic sailing events will be held on he south coast, not in London.

So - yep - we have a deal of water-sports here.

Comes from being an island, I guess. Nowhere in the UK is more than 55miles from the sea, I seem to remember.

Well, there are no windows where I sleep. Or in the building for that matter. Heres a nice picture from the roof where I was staying recently.

Now that's what I call a view.
bummer.
Thanks for posting! I was wondering if anyone else had a dull view.

genuinegirly 07-17-2005 01:41 PM

Nice. Somewhat on the dull side, but way better than a brick wall!

genuinegirly 07-17-2005 01:43 PM

I think I'd cry if I woke up to that one every morning.

genuinegirly 07-17-2005 01:45 PM

Wow. Nighttime cityscapes are incredible. But is it still beautiful during the day? I hope so!

maleficent 07-17-2005 02:09 PM

My bedroom window faces the parking lot - Ya think maybe it needs to be paved or sealed? (I'm hoping for a really good rainstorm so you can see the lake that accumulates in the parking log)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/bedroom1.jpg

And if I look to the left ever so slightly, I get a lovely view of the trash area.. It's really fun to watch the big ole garbage trucks come rumbling in...

what's the thing that looks like it's got on a football/hockey helmet tothe right?

Coppertop 07-17-2005 03:13 PM

That is my hockey gear. It is on a drying rack on the balcony. My girl won't let my gear live in the apartment with us. I can't imagine why...

The view from my attic deck :)

the far back yard, the near backyard (that's my gold civic by the coach house) the garden directly below me, the north view, and the neighbours yards to the west. Brantford is pretty central in the Golden Triangle of Southern Ontario.

This is the view from our bedroom.

It's not too shabby.

shesus 07-20-2005 02:12 PM

Maleficent,
Your view looks like the view from my first apartment. Now it looks sort of like Jumpin' Jesus' view. I have come a long way...

gawd, i'm really depressed now.. I'm too freakin' old to be living in such a dreary dump....

Note to self: Stay home long enough so you can actually find a new place to live.

Maleficent stay where you are. I have this view, but I don't have enough money to do much else but look at it. When I lived in my first place it was so cheap and I had tons more fun. Plus, I could use the extra money for clothes and shoes. Now if I can't make rent, I will be looking at the sidewalk below living in a hut made of shoeboxes. That would be bad.

Hopefully, you are having lots of fun and have the extra money to blow or I might have just made your matters worse

LOL! I know you're serious, but this made me laugh, because I live in a Mobile Home community, aka, a trailer park. But it's a very clean, respectable one. It ain't like some of the ones you see in Florida or Alabama. Still, though. When I say I live in a trailer park, people already have a preconceived image of what that is. Canadians think of Bubbles and Ricky.

Anyway, I love my place. It's a starter home. And yes, the view may not be great (sorry no pics) but I like it, and that's what matters. Same for you, Johnny. Where you are now isn't where you'll always be. Be thankful that you have a place to stay, period. In time you'll move on and up.

Cynthetiq 07-21-2005 05:19 AM

JP, it may not be important to you now. It wasn't really something we ever thought we would have. It was a total fluke that we were shown this apartment by Xazy. When we walked in and saw the city lights in the total darkness of an apartment, we knew this place was home.

You find what feeds your soul and you nourish it as such. If that happens to be sitting in a small room typing away at a glowing screen in the middle of the night...

I know that when I wake up now and I look out over the river... I have something very special and I count my blessings. I take a scoop and feed my soul.

I very much agree with this. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to live in a high-rise with views of the buildings around. I've lived in some pretty horrendous places. When we were shown this place and I saw the Hancock building looming in our view, I immediately knew this was it. It was a little over our budget but we adjusted. We wake up every morning to this view and swore to never take for granted what we have.

The only drawback is that we live at the intersection of the main routes for two of downtown's busiest fire departments, but it's a small price to pay for realizing a lifelong wish.

Chateau Stan may have a vacancy soon. Gotta like snow and slobbery dogs.

For what it's worth, this is the home of our dreams. It was love at first sight for my wife. It was over our budget, the winter commute sucks, and I don't ever see us living anywhere else. We wake up every morning, grateful to be living in the mountains.

Life is too short, you've got to indulge some of your dreams.
