Heavy Traffic
Okay, not that this is a great thing (heavy traffic), but since I'm having to endure it, now, I'm wondering who also has heavy traffic to deal with? This photo is in north Dallas at the "High Five" at LBJ and Central Expressway. It's about 3:00 PM in the afternoon, today, when I shot this photo from my car as I was driving down the road. This traffic is nothing compared to what I have seen, but it's a start.
Any other heavy traffic photos out there?

Those are bad enough. I hate big cities with a passion for this reason. I don't like driving around idiots. I like to have a little fun from time to time, and while I trust myself, and my car, the trust limits end at the bumpers and outside mirrors. I like seeing cities, and all, and can tolerate driving through them without having to stop, but you'd never catch me living in one. I can't imagine driving for 90 minutes one way to and from work...to cover 20 miles. I can get to work in 25 minutes on a bad day...covering about 20 miles. I'll take that, thank you very much!
All that said...nice pics.

Ok, somebody has to say it so... "You call that traffic?"
Try commuting between WI. and IL. via I94 during rush hours (shudder). Or downtown Chicago rush hour. I had to put up with this shit for years with 48 mile commutes one way. Or even better (in a way) I had a job just 6 miles down the same road I lived on. It would take 30 minutes to make the commute! If there was an accident, it easily became 1.5 hours, because there simply wasn't an alternative route that wasn't already jammed. Wisconsin is such a relief now. Uh, sorry for the rant. Like DE137 said. nice pics! |

THATS NOT TRAFFIC
Ok, everyone except those in the LA area can bow down and shutter to the DC beltway. I lived excatly 22 miles door to door from home to work. and on average it was an hour and a half starting at 6 am. Friday going home min of 3 hours and thats starting out as early as 3. there is no such thing as rush hour its almost 24 hours a day, every report that somes out DC is always 2nd to LA, i cant imagin sitting in worse, i have recently moved away to FL because of this traffic, it literally consumes your life, imagine 3 hours of you day doing nothing but progressing to the next destinantion, if you factor in a 24 hour day - 8 sleeping (yeah right) 9 at work (with lunch) best case you have 7 hours left 1 hour in the moring geting ready..... half of your available 5 day work week life in a car. In will make you insane or at least the worst person to be around.

really nice picture tropic.....but like others have said, wow am I jealous that that's what you call traffic. I like in Southern California, and I have friends that like about a 45-55 minute drive north of me. Well, I happened to leave around rush hour, and that same 50 minute trip turned into a FOUR HOUR swear-a-thon.
no one will ever know traffic until they've endured the 405N/101 interchange. There's a reason people down here call the 405 freeway "the world's largest parking lot", heh.

NO BoltedDown!!! I see that commute every single day! I work in Carlsbad and I have to head south every afternoon to pick my wife up from UCSD.
I was looking at pictures, laughing about how I still hadn't seen any picture of heavy traffic and then I see the cars, and the sign for Batiquitos Lagoon. Chills literally ran up my spine. Last edited by CZzyzx41; 08-01-2005 at 10:25 PM.. |

This is the very reason I hate living in the city, even though Salt Lake's traffic isn't really all that bad compared to other places. I think St. Louis is the worst traffic I've ever been through, or maybe it's just because they have terrible drivers. Even the times I've been through Southern Cal the traffic itself was worse, but people could at least handle their cars in a competent manner.
Anyway, great pics everyone!! BoltedDown, I particularly like the "park" and ride sign in yours

i live in so cal near the damned 60 freeway. that god damn freeway is always jammed. these past 2 weeks, a semi caught fire causing the freeway, a 6 laner on both sides, 12 total, to shut down for 2 hours and backing traffic up for 7 hours.
and then some nimrod decides to shoot from a moving vehicle, killing another commuter at 1 am, causing the freeway to be shutdown AGAIN! until dawn so officers can look for the bullet.

Today, I was out driving in the lovely Dallas traffic and in between customers, I was parked at one of many red lites. I know this photo isn't what would be referred to as "heavy traffic", but since I had my camera with me, I just had to take the shot.
Love it when I see a Ferrari on a tow truck.
