Old Bus

Spied an old school bus off the side of a deserted country road. Thought a couple pics were in order:

I love the contrast and grain, kinda feel sorry for any kids still trapped in there though.

Excellent pictures, though I'm curious about the frame on the third one.

Very cool pictures... but they make me sad... wonder what the story was as to how that bus came to be abandoned there for so long...

anything in the bus? schoolbooks, etc?

Yup, shot with the Holga, and used an old expired roll of Konica b&w infrared I had laying around. Holga now makes filter kits, so I used a red #25 filter and crossed my fingers.....

Suprisingly, most of the negs on the roll were exposed fairly decently. Scanned em at 3200 dpi and really just adjusted my levels and added MAYBE 3 points of contrast.

This is where I get my Holga stuff: http://www.freestylephoto.biz/

Just got a polaroid back for it, so some fun experimenting to do now.

Actually, the body of the bus was missing. Just past the cab, it looked like a flatbed truck. Nothing in it, and I'm even kinda suprised that the windshield wipers were still there.

That first picture is so amazing. I love the b&w.

Reminds me of the movie Jeepers Creepers. Oh so bad. It's a shame, I'm so young that pictures like these fill my head with crappy memories of crappy movies instead of long lost childhoods.

Maybe one day, somone will take an artsy picture of an NES and put it up on TFP v347.0, and I'll be able to look at all the young'uns and say "see there, that's a memory."

Joe... great shots but why do you have say you found the bus, "off the side of a deserted country road" when we know full well it's just rotting in your back yard?

Again, they are really good shots...

By golly, that's just what the negative looks like, bernie. When you scan it, just as when you print it in the darkroom, you make a positive. Which is what you see at the top of this thread.

I guess with digital, you're missing that whole negative to positive step.

So in conclusion.....stop trying to confuse me. It's bad enough I gotta deal with goofy canooks like flyman and Charlatan..................

oh jeeze joe... i'm not try to confuse YOU, but you're sure as heck confusing me!!!

perhaps your scanner software has some special "scan negative" option?
otherwise, i don't understand how film negatives turn into positves just by the normal scanning tehcnique... do y'know what i'm carrying on about?

and ps. joe, fly & Charlatan should get a room already & get it over with!

So sorry about the confusion, dear bernie.

My scanner software does have a pull-down menu for either reflectives or transparencies. If I select the latter, my choices are, positives (slides), color negative film, or black & white film. When selecting the film options, they are automatically turned into positives.

By the way, my scanner is the Epson Perfection 3200.
