University of Toronto

I was inspired by Charlatan's thread (Charlatan's Thread and BoltedDown's thread to post pictures of my beautiful school.

These two are of Victoria College in late fall. The sky was beautiful and the lighting was awesome. Blend that with great architecture, and mediocre photography and this is what you get.

These ones are of University College's quad, where I spend most of my time before classes. Taken Monday, when the weather was subpar.

These are of the inside of UC.

cool pics. nice campus. i'm sorry, i meant, really really nice campus. i like the shot with the archways.

Post more! i love these. Can you take some of the St Michaels college area? and Hart House? Maybe I should dig up some of Queen's campus too, and we can get a university picture post thread gathering steam.

Charlatan 05-05-2005 04:59 AM

It really is great campus... Not that it doesn't have its share of ugly buildings too. Spending the week at Hot Docs last week reminded me just how beautiful certain parts are...

Please post more!

I love college campuses with history, probably because the one I went to was founded in 1960. Great pictures of a great campus.

kurty[B] 05-05-2005 06:46 AM

Gorgeous! My college's campus looks like a middle school compared to that.

Janey 05-05-2005 06:56 AM

goodie! how do you post pics anyways? i have some that i want to put up.

cellophanedeity 05-05-2005 06:57 AM

Well, when I come downtown for the Toronto meet-up, I'll come down earlier so that I can take some more shots of the campus. I don't actually live downtown (I'm in Brampton) so I can't get anything to you immediately, but I'll take some more when I go next time!

in the 'quick reply' (the white box below) you probably have to host it somewhere and put it in the 'img' tags with the url.

however if you press the 'reply to post' (below left), it takes you to another screen and towards the bottom (below the text box, in the 'additional options' there is a button 'manage attachments' press that and upload your pictures.

now you got no excuse not to post your pics ;)

I had no idea U of T had such gorgeous buildings! When was it founded, or when were its colleges founded if some are newer than others?

I'm visiting Oxford this summer with my father and we'll be taking a lot of photos of his old college and a lot of the other colleges. Now that's old. I should post those pictures in a thread too!

cellophanedeity 05-05-2005 08:40 PM

University College was founded in 1853. (that's the building in the second post)

Oh! And I should be going down tomorrow, so I'll get some more pics for you sooner than planned! :D

U of T is a cool campus. I was there in November last year for a Choral Program. Loved it. First time to Toronto too... it was a blast! Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

The Munk centre is one of my favourites...

You need to take some pictures of some of the monstrosities (interesting buildings but monstrosities nonetheless) to give some balance...

The library done in the brutalist style that looks like peacock, the new residence with the walkway that extends over the street space...

That said, I still think, overall U of T has a beautiful campus. Thanks for posting these!

cellophanedeity 05-08-2005 09:10 AM

But... I wanted to promote UofT! Not show all of the ugly things like Robarts, New College, OISE, and the St.Mike's Library!

But perhaps next time. I'll try to make them look pretty.

jenjen 05-08-2005 11:10 PM

That is a really gorgeous place, now I am definitely going to visit. I have a cousin in Toronto that I've been meaning to visit!
