I wonder who wrote "outside" above the door. This is one of those houses that looks lonely, even more than it looks creepy.

I love the colours and the silhouette in the last shot. Reminds me of the Lion King! :D

thanks for the kind words...even though it is abandoned it is still owned by a group and is gonna be rebuilt slowly. When leaving, we got stopped by a lady who was the lawyer for the site and she was gonna chew us out, but after about 2 minutes she found out that I just wanted to take pictures and that we were respectful of the site, so she warmed up to us. Heres the history: It was originally built as a private mansion. Then, it was bought and used as a convent for nuns. Next, it was used as the campus for FIT (Florida Institute of Technology...never knew it ever existed), then, it was in some way affiliated with Evinrude motors. Now, it's just abandoned.

We didn't explore it completely, but the lady said that in one of the smaller buildings there are pentograms everywhere and melted candles in circles and such...because trespassers use it for santaria/satanism...that would have been awesome to get some pictures of. Oh well.

Leave it to an ICP fan to write "ICP" over the front door of an abandoned house. I got a laugh out of that.

Reminds me of the house in "Great Expectations"

anyway, these are some good pics, for someone with money it'd be a great house to recondition.

beautiful pictures, I love the last one, sets off your four pic collection off nicely.

settie 04-18-2005 03:25 PM

oh wow, how could someone let a house like that get so bad? Awesome pics, the third one is so beautiful

buddle 04-19-2005 06:42 AM

Weird that they have that in Jensen Beach. I saw mansions and even the start of hotels abandoned while cutting through Grand Bahama island. Eerie the vegatation reclaiming the structures. I wish I had some pictures, but that was before my camera day.

dfings 04-23-2005 07:03 PM

that house must have been awesome before it was abanoned

bernadette 04-23-2005 07:29 PM

WOW! got any more snaps?

sometimes i wish i was seriously wealthy just so i could fix up & restore incredible old buildings. alas...
