Life at Oxford University
I have just started 2nd year at Oriel College, Oxford University, England. Here are a few pictures taken over the last year.
Firstly, this is a photo of the six first year engineering students at my college. I am the third from the left, wearing glasses. http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/.../engineers.jpg Now here are two photos of the Radcliffe Camera Library which is 2 minutes away from my college room. First photo is in Winter, second Summer. Obviously. http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/oxford/rad1.jpg http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/oxford/rad2.jpg This is Merton College chapel, which is 2 minutes away from my room in the opposite direction. We walk past it to get down to the river and to the meadows. http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/oxford/merton.jpg This is the second quadrangle in Oriel College (my college). http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/oxford/2nd.jpg Now here are some photos from the various rowing competitions that happen throughout the year. The first picture is my favourite as it shows the Oriel College First XIII (in white tops) about to catch Pembroke (our arch-rivals at rowing). The other two photos are just to get some atmosphere. http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/oxford/rowing1.jpg http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/oxford/rowing2.jpg http://www.rjshade.com/notes/images/oxford/rowing3.jpg |

Isn't that library the oldest building at Oxford? I've heard of and seen (in pics) all of those
places before, but you're a bastard for being able to go there. Probably should have worked a little bit more in school! :) Seriously, nice pictures, and you're homepage it quite cool too. And that is definately alot of people watching a rowing contest, if that went on in the states, you'd get maybe 5 people to show up. |
Nice pics, love the buildings.

Sweet pictures! Got quite the crowd for the rowing competition.
And you guys are so cute in your tuxes! Although you all do look quite young ;) |

The library is a sub-building of the Bodleian library, which is a collection of libraries all over Oxford. In total there are over 9 million items on 176 km of shelves. Heh, and I can go and look at any of them. The rowing is very popular (stereotypically Oxford, but it is true), and the first boats from each college take it ridiculously seriously. Then you get the guys who are in the University first 8... |
Wish your pics were still working!
